Story
It’s been 20 years since 9/11, two decades since the United States was attacked on home soil and set out to make the guilty pay with their lives. In the shadows, the enemy has been patient - learning, and adapting. And the enemy is ready to strike again. A new president offers hope to a country weary of conflict. He’s a young, popular, self-made visionary…but he’s also a man with a secret.

Glimpses of gold but overall annoying

I liked the premise and usually love Ray Porter but the Sawyer and Senator Thwait storyline was painful and forced at times and the voices sounded eerily similar to his voices for another Seal series he narrates. And this one felt even more overdone in terms of descriptive gore than prior ones. In my opinion not among his best

Well done. Loved the insight into the great rides and current legends of his sport. And appreciated his praise of the people on his team that so often get forgotten. And also loved his acknowledgment that bike racing is hard and sometimes you just get beat by someone who is better that day.

Good listen overall for those that love True Crime
Reviewed: 11-10-22
I enjoyed it and the nice thing about its structure is that people could listen to those cases they have an interest in and maybe skip others… it’s like have 5 or 6 shorter books in one. While I agree with where he landed on the Ramsey case, in that section he did seem a bit over concerned with how he was viewed. And seemed to backtrack a little by suggesting a young perpetrator (teenager or young adult) could have done it as a one off, versus his regular and accurate premise that offenders usually get more bold and don’t stop unless caught or put away for other crimes.

Good story nested in hours worth of excess and tedious narratives from Voldemort and Barry Crouch Jr among others, reminiscent of Bond villains explaining their evil plans in detail giving James Bond time to escape from his chains. She is a great writer with a wonderful skill at developing characters but I think her weakest effort mostly driven by just too much non essential matter. 20 hours that could have been 12.

Story
Never before has such an account of mountaineering triumph and tragedy been told from a woman's point of view. By proving that women had the skill, strength, and courage necessary to make this difficult and dangerous climb, the 1978 Women's Himalayan Expedition's accomplishment had a positive impact around the world, changing perceptions about women's abilities in sports and other arenas. And Annapurna: A Woman's Place has become an acknowledged classic in the annals of women's achievements - a story of challenge and commitment told with passion, humor, and unflinching honesty.

Gripping and compelling story

I enjoyed the book overall. Amazing accomplishment for sure. As a non-climber I found it hard to follow the technical climbing terms that were used throughout without any explanation. That took away from my ability to place myself where they were and try to envision what they were seeing and doing. And it was hard to keep track of all the various climbers and Sherpas and where they were on the mountain at any time. Probably an awesome read for an experienced climber!!

Alien rewrite?
Reviewed: 12-05-20
Entertaining but writing was very basic and the story itself seemed to be a regurgitation of the original Alien movie/book. Performance was ok... a bit nasally but I’m sure she did the best she could with the story.

It had too many stretches of people acting stupid or oblivious to be even remotely believable. The writing itself was entertaining with streaks of very nice wit. Not a bad summer read, but I could do without hearing a poor Ukrainian accent for a few years.

Story
A woman disappears on her way to work. A man is convicted of her murder. But this case is different. Though the police believe they have the right man, key components of the prosecution case are missing. There is no body of the victim, no witnesses to the crime, no confession and no physical evidence: no DNA, CCTV or murder weapon.

Very interesting story but .....

A very compelling look at unique story of no physical evidence but some strong if not wholly complete circumstantial evidence. What I struggled with was the two journalists seeming to skew to believing the word of David Gilroy and his alternate theories. While I do think ultimately there should not have been a conviction due to reasonable doubt, I would stay far away with saying that means Gilroy is innocent. He obviously lived a life of lies to his wife and children while having his affair. And the journey to/from Loch Gilpead when he knew that Suzanne was missing and the time gaps are damning in my mind.
