Story
Once known among New York's elite as the American Adonis, Everett Griffin now lives as a recluse in the wilds of Texas. The treachery of a former admirer left his face and his spirit riddled with scars, so he hides himself away, his only companions a trio of trusted servants and an oversized dog. Locals whisper of the beastly man who lives in the gloomy manor outside of town and his tendency to attack anyone who dares approach. Everett relishes his fearsome reputation and uses it as a shield to guard his privacy.

Very hard to even think about the story. Painful

I own every Karen Witemeyer book. EVERY ONE until this one. I have no idea whether it would be good or not. Narrators matter. I also have to say, negative review for Audible for not refunding or exchanging or just leaving a credit on account for a book purchased without using a credit.

I love Jen Turano! The story line, the humor is always pleasing and enjoyable. Having said that, it is never a good idea to change narrators in a series.

Story
Marygene Brown always figured she'd marry her childhood sweetheart, Alex Myers, not cater his wedding. But the Peach Diner could use the exposure. Most of the island is showing up - although more for the role-playing murder game at the reception than for the widely loathed bridezilla, Lucy Carmichael. Marygene may have to smile through the festivities, but Mama doesn't have to hold her peace - especially since only Marygene can hear her mother's ghost. Mama says she sees an aura of darkness around the wedding.

I own every book written by Karen Witemeyer. I have always enjoyed her books. However, I must admit that the earlier books are better. I purchased this book on Audible I would probably have enjoyed it better had I just read it. Sadly, the narrator did not help the book. I did not like the voice given to the main male character at all.
