About this listen

Witemeyer returns with her trademark blend of adventure, romance, and humor.

Grace Mallory is tired of running, of hiding. But when an old friend sends an after-hours telegraph transmission warning Grace that the man who has hunted her for nearly a year has discovered her location, she fears she has no choice. She can't let the villain she believes responsible for her father's death release his wrath in Harper's Station, the town that has sheltered her and blessed her with the dearest friends she's ever known.

Amos Bledsoe prefers bicycles to horses and private conversations over the telegraph wire to social gatherings with young ladies who see him as nothing more than an oddity. His telegraph companion, the mysterious Miss G, listens eagerly to his ramblings every night and delights him with tales all her own. For months, their friendship - dare he believe, courtship? - has fed his hope that he has finally found the woman God intended for him. Yet when he takes the next step to meet her in person, he discovers her life is in peril, and Amos must decide if he can shed the cocoon of his quiet nature to become the hero Grace requires.

Totally enjoyable

What makes this book enjoyable is the non-traditional hero. Not that tall, not strikingly handsome, but still very attractive because of his personality, intelligence, and devotion. There was a lot if humor and enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. This was a very enjoyable clean romance.

Listening to this book was like a radio performance!

The story is great; it has humor, suspense and romance. The narrator’s energy was contagious and made the story’s characters come alive. This is my first audible book and I will definitely download more!

Love this series. Glad I’m not from this era though

These period pieces are adorable. I enjoy the people and how they buck the system, but in a respectful way. The love stories are sweet too!

Quirky people deserve love to

I really enjoyed this quirky love story. I love stories about awkward people falling in love. Not just a breath brining people and women with slim waist. I had to say I was more invested in what was going on Helen. I would have loved a full story, just with Helen falling in love.

Great book full of twists and turns.

This book will hold your attention and keep you guessing yet not having you get bogged down with details. It is an easy read but very fun and clean.

Witemeyer Fan

I’m a Witemeyer Fan now, but either Cozart has to create a new hero voice or Witemeyer needs to get a new narrator. Cozart is excellent in many ways but please, that high pitch-teenage -boy voice doesn’t work. The story of two telegraph operators is delightful and my favorite scene is where Grace interviews Amos via the wire. Excellent writing, especially where Amos contemplates the image of her lacy garter holding her derringer. Cute! Great plot!
