Just Wow!!! I just finished listening to How to Say Babylon and something told me to listen to the book vs reading it. I cried while listening to the acknowledgements when the author thanked her mother because I thought of all that it took for Safiya to get to where she was at the time of writing her story. Listen and you will understand. I am grateful that I went on this journey with Sinclair, from learning about her life, her childhood in Jamaica, her livity as Rasta, her father who seemed tender in the early years and as life hardened he did more. As a devoted mother, I connected so much to her mom. I was telling my daughter who is in college about the book and I feel this memoir would be excellent to be taught in an honors high school course and a gender studies class in college. So many themes; finding one's voice, fathers and daughters, a mother's protection, choosing self, the trauma of abuse, family, racism and colonialism, overcoming, richness, poverty, the transformational power of writing and specifically poetry which I believe needs more amplifying in today's world. I found myself thinking about Safiya and her family wondering how they are doing these days. May she and her family continue to move towards hope and healing. Thank you Safiya and team for the gift of your memoir to the world.

As a fan of Tayari Jones I was looking up her books and learned about Atlanta Noir. I enjoyed the stories-the characters, their honesty, complexity, the backdrops. Loved the narrations an entertaining and informative Atlanta experience. Getting ready to download the Brooklyn Noir and hope it won't dissapoint!!

Jillian always bring the latest research to the masses she stays about 5 years ahead of the science in health and wellness before it becomes trendy, gimmecky. Allows me to trust it and make changes.
