Story
The sages of Tantra have known for centuries that when you follow the path of Shakti - the sacred feminine principle personified by the goddesses of yoga - these gifts can manifest spontaneously. Yet most of us, women as well as men, have yet to experience the full potential of our inner feminine energies. When you know these powers for what they are, they heighten your capacity to open spiritually, love more deeply and fearlessly, create with greater mastery, and move through the world with skill and delight.

Content is great

The content of this book is amazing but whoever reads or chants the mantras simply takes away from the power of these amazing Bijas . Unfortunately when westerners chant the mantras become so flat it’s awful. I recommend looking up these mantras and proper pronouncing with prana syllables in YouTube. Otherwise the book is beautiful

Story
When Autobiography of a Yogi first appeared in 1946, it was acclaimed as a landmark work in its field. The New York Times hailed it as "a rare account". Newsweek pronounced it "fascinating". The San Francisco Chronicle declared, "Yogananda presents a convincing case for yoga, and those who 'came to scoff' may remain 'to pray." Today it is still one of the most widely read and respected books ever published on the wisdom of the East.

Story
Thousands of people have had near-death experiences, but scientists have argued that they are impossible. Dr. Eben Alexander was one of those scientists. Neurosurgeon Alexander knew that NDEs feel real, but are simply fantasies produced by brains under extreme stress. Then, Dr. Alexander’s own brain was attacked by a rare illness. The part of the brain that controls thought and emotion shut down completely. For seven days he lay in a coma. Then Alexander’s eyes popped open. He had come back. Alexander’s recovery is a medical miracle. But the real miracle of his story lies elsewhere.

It’s ok

The actual experience of the life after death was interesting but a large portion of this book is about authors medical and hospitalization survey which I found for me incredibly boring. The chapters about prayer vigils etc I was at times thinking it’s some born again denomination story. If you are into churches and prayer groups this might be encouraging.

Story
Theravada Buddhism, often understood as the school that most carefully preserved the practices taught by the Buddha, has undergone tremendous change over time. Prior to Western colonialism in Asia—which brought Western and modernist intellectual concerns, such as the separation of science and religion, to bear on Buddhism—there existed a tradition of embodied, esoteric, and culturally regional Theravada meditation practices.

Unfortunately I found this book incredibly dry however it’s a historical overview I would love to hear more about teachers in this practice or stories within this practice. The reading is good it should be titled as “ the history of early Buddhism “
No teachings here only history
