Story
Everyone has wanted their favorite book to be real, if only for a moment. Everyone has wished to meet their favorite characters, if only for a day. But be careful in that wish, for even a history laid in ink can be repaid in flesh and blood, and reality is far deadlier than fiction...especially on Addington Isle.

Gus, You are a man after my heart!
Reviewed: 04-04-20
I absolutely can't get enough of poor old Gus. He's truly one of my all time favorite characters. Each new mountain man book I cringe to hear it, thinking to myself it will be the one I loathe. But I have not yet, been let down. I adore the author's way of making the character of Gus so realistic in his thoughts and his actions.

Story
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Wonderfully Surprised
Reviewed: 11-29-18
This book crafted a new world that was beautifully described. The writer really lets you see the world of which was created and not in an over done way. I really enjoyed seeing the characters evolve in such an imperfect yet human way. It was just a really interesting story, and I highly recommend.
