Story
Unchained from fate, the Norse gods Loki and Hel are ready to unleash Ragnarok, a.k.a. the Apocalypse, upon the earth. They’ve made allies on the darker side of many pantheons, and there’s a globe-spanning battle brewing that ancient Druid Atticus O’Sullivan will be hardpressed to survive, much less win.

I wanted to like this book, but...

I can't understand what the female narrator is saying.
I have read most of Kevin Hearne's books & I adore the Iron Druid series. Luke Daniels could read the dictionary and I would be spellbound. I started this book with high expectations, but I have not been able to listen to more than the first few chapters. Xe Sands is very hard to understand -- her accents are too thick and her voice is flat. Sorry Mr. Hearne, but I don't know if I will be able to finish listening to this book despite my anticipation for your new series.

Volume issues make this hard to listen to
Reviewed: 03-19-15
I read all the reviews about the volume differences between narrators & they were right. It was very difficult to hear in spots, especially using headphones. I turned up volume for one narrator & then was almost deafened with the other. But at least it's a short story. And I had to get this one because I couldn't miss any of the Jane Yellowrock stories :)

But a series of ill-timed omens and a deathbed promise to her grandmother have sent her on a quest to Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, to secure her family’s magical potency for the next generation. Her supernatural task? To unearth four artifacts hidden by her grandfather before a rival magical family beats her to it. Complication One: The artifacts are lost somewhere in vampire Jane Jameson’s occult bookshop. Complication Two: Her new neighbor, Jed Trudeau, keeps turning up half-naked at the strangest times....

The book was fun as all of Molly Harper's books. Amanda Roncini's narration was great and the southern drawls are nice & slow, but I thought the Boston/Irish accent a little off. The Boston words (with the missing "R"s) seemed to jump out at me and made me lose my focus on the story.

I'm hooked -- I can't wait for my next credits so I can get the 2nd book. So much history packed in this book but it wasn't boring. The narration was good & I liked the subtle French accents. Sometimes I had a little trouble following some of the new character voices near the end of the book, but I enjoyed listening.

Story
Cutting a deal with a trickster god rarely goes well for any human brave or foolish enough to try it, but Atticus doesn’t feel like he has a choice. With members of the Norse pantheon out for his blood, he can’t train his apprentice in peace, so he asks Coyote to help him fake his own death. The cost, however, might wind up being every bit as high as if he’d made no deal at all.

I think the narrator, Luke Daniels, enjoys voicing the different characters, especially the non-human, very much. He has enhanced a fun, very enjoyable story (series) and added another layer to their personalities.
The books put colourful pictures in my head & they have a great soundtrack too!

Story
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

What made the experience of listening to Hounded the most enjoyable?
Great story fitting a 2000 year old druid into modern times. Listening to the stories of how things have changed.
Which character – as performed by Luke Daniels – was your favorite?
Loved the dog Oberon. He sounded just like you would expect - if dogs could talk.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I can't listen to these books at work with headphones anymore because I laugh out loud too often.
