I great trail through time

Once again a delightful book through a period, or I should say snippets of history while dealing with an enemy and dealing with other problems. All of which was fun to listen too. The next book is already downloaded but as usual will wait for a few other books before coming back. For me it is best to let settle for awhile and then do the next installment.

Max is back

I was afraid that after “Second Chance” I was going to hate all things St Mary’s. I am happy to report all has continued in a very satisfactory way. There seemed to be very detailed descriptions of gore this time, haha, but maybe it was just me. Give it a go.

Anther Adventure with the Timetraveling Historians

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, yes, and yes. I love this series. Get book 1 and start the mad adventure of Max, Peterson, Leon and the other crazy historians at St. Mary's. You have to read it to know. Every story is a different adventure. The pod is their mode of transport like Dr. Who uses a phone booth.

What other book might you compare A Trail Through Time to and why?

Dr. Who comes to mind with the spinning phone booth winding up somewhere else. At least the pods are programmed for their destination.

Which scene was your favorite?

Not a particular one but I do like the History Muse who shows up to tell Max to get on with her next special tour.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

And the world goes white....just before you land somewhere else.

Any additional comments?

These books are exceptionally good. They are light with minimal sex scenes for those who prefer fantasy, and you don't really miss them. Max and Leon do 'get together' but you don't have to suffer through it with them. These are just good fun books for those who can suspend reality and enjoy fantasy.

Learn to READ words before recording!

It is supposed to be P Y R O clastic clouds, not "proclastic"!

I am less sure about the monk, but it seems to me that his name must be A N S E L M, not "Asnelm"...

loved it! This series has it all. Great fun.

Have loved the whole series so far and this book did not disappoint. I love the history, the excitement and humor in particular. Looking forward to more adventures at St. Mary's.

Another Great Story

"You can never change the past, but you can change the future". Profound words by the Muse of History. The fourth book in the St. Mary's Chronicles deals with Max returning from near death in an alternate time-line. She and Leon work together to not only start a new life, but also save St. Mary's from the ruthless Time Police. Will they be able to have a life together, or sacrifice everything to save St. Mary's. Jodi Taylor is a phenomenal story teller while Zara Ramm gives an outstanding performance.

Just ‘wow’!

My favorite book in the series yet, I loved the journey here with all the surprises, heartbreak and exultation! I don’t want to say too much, but enjoy the ride and every moment and uncertainty along the way… gotta love ‘St. Mary’s! Loved this narrator and her British accent that colored it all and brought us happily along for the journey! Thanks for this gift!

much worse than the first books of the series

If you could sum up A Trail Through Time in three words, what would they be?

"How could he?! I loved him so much!" - an unfortunate turn to hectic and rather hysterical romance instead of an indianajohnes-style time-jumping adventures and humor.

Would you recommend A Trail Through Time to your friends? Why or why not?

I was very disappointed with this 4th entry to the series but I would still recommend it and I would definitely buy the next one - just in case the author recovers her pace and humor. It was clear even in the previous book that the author could not decide whether she wanted to write a humorous smart and fast pacing chrono-opera or a romance story with bits of historical details and time-jumping in it. Naturally, I am all for the first option but I am sure some readers will like the romance more.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending - in a very negative way. I do like some basic logic in my books LOL

Any additional comments?

I will try the next book - if it happens to be the same erratic non-logical "roaring passions" soap opera thing, that will be the end of the series for me personally.
