Story
Behind the curtain of her happy on-screen persona, Valerie Bertinelli’s life has been no easy ride, especially when it comes to her own self-image and self-worth. She waged a war against herself for years, learning to equate her value to her appearance as a child star on One Day at a Time and punishing herself in order to fit into the unachievable Hollywood mold. She struggled to make her marriage to Eddie Van Halen—the true love of her life—work, despite all the rifts the rock-star lifestyle created between them.

Valerie's honesty & vulnerability are so refreshing.

I loved the way Valerie just simply shared her story, mingled & mixed together were her inner thoughts. This created a rare glimpse into a life of one of the "Hollywood Elite", but at the same time, made you feel as if you were just having lunch with a girlfriend who you relate to over being a Mom & loving our kiddos so fiercely that it hurts when they hurt.
An enchanted & wonderful combination of voice that fully pulls you in.
Loved to hear that her journey of self discovery & finally fully feeling in her body, is very similar to my own, & the same journey that so many women must climb.

A True Woman of Character
Reviewed: 01-03-24
As a child of the 60s, raised on MGM Musicals, Wizard of Oz, Dicken's Christmas Carol, Capra's It's A Wonderful Life, & Wilder's Some Like It Hot, as an adult, I have often found my comfort zone in channel TCM.
There I discovered the fabulous hits of the 30s & 40s. Which led me to follow actors & industry giants I hadn't known before, Carey Grant, Katherine Hepburn, Joseph Mankinwitz, William Wyler, & of course...Myrna Loy!!
While familiar with her movies, it was such a thrill to learn about her life, intelligence, lifetime of service to those doing her hair, all the way up to campaigning the world for international change. What a Lady!!
I find myself after finishing this book, wanting to pattern my life now, even tho I am a Grma in my early 60s, after a lot of her trademark personality traits...humor, tolerance, compassion, never stopping, dignity, hard work, being an example for all, & a peacemaker. They certainly don't make them like this anymore. What a shame.

Story
The women of the iconic '80s band the Go-Go’s will always be remembered as they appeared on the back of their debut record: sunny, smiling, each soaking in her own private bubble bath with chocolates and champagne. The photo is a perfect tribute to the fun, irreverent brand of pop music that the Go-Go’s created, but it also conceals the trials and secret demons that the group—and, in particular, Belinda Carlisle—struggled with.

Heaven Is Truly A Place On Earth!

So thrilled to know that Belinda has finally found her own heaven within & is now able to really treasure what she has! Parts made me wonder if she suffered from Anxiety also without realizing that this could be a major factor in her self-medicating habits?
also fun to hear all the background that was going on as all "The Girls " along with myself, were growing up & discovering who we wanted to be beside NOT OUR PARENTS!! All of which was of course while becoming the soundtrack of our lives!! Heaven Is a Place On Earth will always hold a special place in my heart for being the CD & concert in SLC that I was daily dancing to when I met my husband almost 35yrs ago!! 😍💋😍 I was in awe of her voice then, & continue even now as a GMa to dance & sing along at the top of my lungs-very badly I'm afraid, to her smooth tones & punk chick lyrics!! Thank you for giving me personally so very much! 🤗

Once Donald Trump’s fiercest surrogate, closest confidant, and staunchest defender, Michael Cohen knows where the skeletons are buried. This is the most devastating business and political horror story of the century. As Trump’s lawyer and “fixer”, Cohen not only witnessed firsthand but was also an active participant in the inner workings of Trump’s business empire, political campaign, and presidential administration.

FRIGHTENING!! OUTRAGE & SCHOCK ON EVERY PAGE!

While Michael Cohen admits his wrong doings, he adds new lows to the term "Lawyer Pond Scum"! the things this man admits to have ruined several people's lives. But you then have to look at the Puppet Master TRUMP who led the way & provides the creation for lawyers or "Fixers" like Cohen.
We should ALL be very afraid of what is going on in the Oval & SERIOUSLY GUARD OUR REPUBLIC! There is no way that TRUMP can serve a second term, as our lives & all the freedoms we enjoy will erode away. COME ON AMERICA, WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS! WE MUST DO BETTER!

Even as Demi was becoming the highest paid actress in Hollywood, however, she was always outrunning her past. Throughout her rise to fame and during some of the most pivotal moments of her life, Demi battled addiction, body image issues, and childhood trauma that would follow her for years - all while juggling a skyrocketing career and at times negative public perception.

Tiffany can't avoid being funny: it's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

A powerful REAL story!
Reviewed: 01-29-18
This is a powerful REAL story of the struggle of a young girl climbing her way out by her fingernails & humor of a terrifying childhood to her triumphant & self empowering career in Hollywood. Tiffany is a smart, brilliant, soft-hearted, perseptive, & remarkably level headed woman now. This is an astonishing fact after learning of all the obsticles she had to fight her way through to become triumphant in her life today. That alone would be a powerful & aspiring book.
But Tiffany is not even CLOSE to reaching her fullest potential yet. Luckily for us, she is just getting started! Here is a strong woman who has positive things to say, & I for one can't wait for her next book, which I can only hope covers her journey from crushing it in Hollywood to claiming her ancestrial lands in Africa as the Queen of the tribe!
(4 stars: Only issue for me was a personal dislike for strong language. But that's what she knows, & I have to respect that that is part of how she learned to stand up for herself. REAL Fan!)

Over the months and years that followed, she went from being an outspoken, multitasking, hands-on mother of three, reality TV star, and social butterfly to a woman who spent most of her time in bed. Yolanda was turned inside out by some of the country's top hospitals and doctors, but due to the lack of definitive diagnostic testing, she landed in a dark maze of conflicting medical opinions.

Just Like Yolanda, Full Of Wisdoms & Integrity!
Reviewed: 10-20-17
As an occasional watcher of RHBH, I wasn't truly hooked until Yolanda appeared. Here was a woman who had it all, (as far as the world could see), but instead of talking about her latest bag or car, she showed us the genuine love of a wife & mother. Her priorities were family first, building an empire last. And in these roles, she shined & became someone relateable.
I could relate to this book & understand her utter days & months of dispair. While I have no personal experience with Lyme, her descriptions, frustrations, & going from doctor to doctor is something I am very aware of. Calling upon your mind & body to perform whatever "Normal" is supposed to be, only to become exhausted by the effort is a feeling that takes way too many days away.
Yolanda was my idol before, now after reading her brave book, ...my rock!

Sound advice for a positive outlook on life, focusing on serving others wherever you are, or standing up for everyone's voice whether your opinions match or not. Settling for Something More out of ourselves & those around us, expecting our personal best & striving to teach by example are more essential values in our world now more than ever! Whining is NEVER a good look for anyone.
