Excellent Fiction Of Real Naval History
Reviewed: 09-01-19
Operation Ivy Bells was an amazing chapter of Cold War US Naval history. RG Williscroft has given it a bit of an added fictional upgrade that further highlights the actual courageous actions of the crews who undertook these dangerous covert missions. = Highly Recommended!

Story
Revealing his extensive research and the verifiable evidence he’s discovered, Frank Joseph presents a comprehensive military history of armed confrontations between humans and extraterrestrials in the 20th and 21st centuries. He explains how, with the development of atomic bombs and ballistic missiles, the frequency of extraterrestrial intervention in human affairs increased dramatically. He documents incidents both famous and little known.

A fairly good compilation of military-et encounter
Reviewed: 08-25-19
BUT ...
1) Nothing new here for anyone familiar with the subject.
2) The author seems to have done little of his own research into the subject, preferring to simply quote other often online sources. Some of known questionable reliability.
3) In some cases the author tends to stretch facts to suit his(?) theories, and even ignores many newly declassified ones, often preferring to only consider them more government disinformation at best.
4) I fully disagree with the author's final summation that we should not encourage or allow our military to "further antagonize" these being of such "superior technology" by defending our nation or planet from their intrusions. Quite the opposite. --- But that is MY opinion, and he is certainly entitled to his own.
5) The narrator's over usage of, "quote, end quote, quote, end quote, quote, end quote, . . . ad nauseum.", was extremely annoying, and a great distraction from the work.
=) As stated, this work forms a good compilation of many of the military encounters with extraterrestrials from over the course of time. However, I would highly recommend that anyone finding items of interest contained within this work do their own further research. It isn't hard what with all of the many dependable online resources that continue to emerge these days. --- As they say, "The Truth IS Out There." --- And it might just be even more stunning than you would care to imagine.

The Rand scientific expedition entered the lush wilderness of the Amazon and never returned. I'm a big fan of James Rollins One Off adventures. (His Sigma Force series has yet to grow on me.)
If you enjoy the old pulp type jungle adventures but want something with more of a modern upgrade, yet retaining that exotic weirdness, then AMAZONIA will certainly fill your ticket to Very High Adventure.

And what's worse, this monster has a mission. = To wipe us and every other lifeform off the face of our world while reseeding it with a host of its own creations.
Yet a handful of survivors must struggle on to find some way to stop it before Man becomes just another layer in the fossil records.

Story
Five years ago, the US Space Force became a reality. And while those writing the checks took things very seriously, the other military branches did not. As a result, Space Force was populated by undesirables. My name is Captain Ethan Stone, a decorated member of SEAL Team Six turned Space Force "recruit". Flash forward five years and between tenses. President West is in office. Power has shifted. And Space Force is defunded. With just a handful of us still living on base, we find ourselves being evicted. But before all of us can leave, aliens invade.

No, you don't need to be a Gamer to really enjoy this story. . . . But if you ARE a Gamer (and I do know a few who I have made a point of turning on to this story!) then I'm sure that you REALLY will enjoy this book! Plenty of laughs, action, barbs, and a mixed bunch of rejects made this one FUN alien invasion unlike any other I have ever encountered.
Some of the language and descriptives might not make this everyone's "cup of tea", but I blame that on Stone. (The guy has issues.) Don't blame Robinson. He's just the poor writer who got dragged into all of this.
Kafer, Zeller and Williams brought the whole story to life with their renditions of all of the characters. GREAT JOB GUYS!
I REALLY HOPE Jeremy will be giving us more adventures of SPACE FORCE!

If you are even a passing fan of MHI, you will LOVE these further insights into the characters and world of monster hunting.
One or two I thought that the author was straining a bit to push their Hero/Heroine into the MHI universe, but . . . I still think that they might have pulled it off! = They did intrigue me enough to get me wondering how other "Outside" characters might fit in as well. --- Characters like Dresden, or Val & Earl, or Burt Gummer from TREMORS, etc. = THAT could get Interesting! Story
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

Great Cast. Good Story. . . . But . . .

For a FREE download I really can't complain.
I thought that the story was mostly interesting, and it certainly contained enough intriguing side items that had me wishing for further insights. (No Spoilers. -- But sort of like the giant alien when first discovered in the original ALIEN movie.)
However, I believe that I would have enjoyed the story more if it would have been a "one off" that focused only on the crew of the transport ship. I actually found myself getting rather frustrated with Ripley and Ash (especially Ash's repeated monologues), and wondering why the authors felt that they needed to include them. Or why they even felt the need to write an ALIEN 1.5. Most especially since anyone who has seen or read ALIENS knows exactly how this story must end. --- Sorry, but for me, that "foreknowledge" pretty much killed most of the suspence and all of the "climatic" ending.
That gripe out of the way, I WILL be listening to this story again, if for no other reason, than the OUTSTANDING performance. -- IMO, even a mediocre story can benefit greatly from the reading. Audio books just don't get much better than those performed by an all star cast!

A SHORT Ghost Story
Reviewed: 11-03-18
I'm not sure what exactly some of the review writers here expected, but for a short story (and FREE) I thought that it was a pretty darn good yarn. One which would go well huddled around a campfire or on a stormy night before the fireplace after the storm has knocked out your power. --- No, it is not a GREAT Masterwork, nor do I believe J. Maberry ever intended it to be such, but it is thirty-seven minutes of good and creepy haunted house storytelling.

It was sure GREAT hearing the voices of ALL of the characters from the old show again! They made this series of stories a real treat to listen to. All of the Good Guys and the Bad Guys. Even those that we had thought were dead and gone forever. --- How? = Well, THAT would be a real spoiler!
My only real complaint = The first episode was very lacking in describing what was taking place in the scene. It was like listening to a tv show without the added advantage of the picture in a very visually driven drama. = You miss a lot, and can only guess at more. -- That did seem to improve a bit as the book progressed, but I think more should have been done to carry the full story for a purely LISTENING audience.
I will certainly be looking for more X-Files done with the original cast members!!!

Agent Franks of the U.S. Monster Control Bureau is a man of many parts - parts from other people, that is. Franks is nearly seven feet tall and all muscle. He's nearly indestructible. Plus he’s animated by a powerful alchemical substance and inhabited by a super-intelligent spirit more ancient than humanity itself. Good thing he’s on our side. More or less.

Franks & The MCB Feds

This was GREAT!
Yeah. Okay. So in this one the crew from MHI get little more than cameos. But that sure doesn't detract from the whole MHI storyline, nor does it make for anything less than a MUST READ (LISTEN TO) addition to the whole MHI universe. In fact, I think that this might have become one of my Personal Favorites yet!
Not only does Correia finally give us the backstory on Franks (which is far more convoluted, interesting and straight up stranger than I could have ever imagined!) but we get to see the "bad guy" MCB Feds in a whole new light. --- Why would a bunch of men and women be willing to risk their lives and be so dedicated to protecting our world from supernatural horrors (while dealing with all the typical government bureaucratic backstabbing and power grabbing BS) for a crummy government paycheck, when they could just as easily be getting filthy rich collecting bounties for the same job like MHI? = Yeah, THAT takes a very special kind of mindset!
My hat goes off to the troopers of Correia's MCB!
I sure hope that he does other stories dedicated to them!!!
Oliver Wyman's performance (as always) is Totally TOP NOTCH!!!
