Classic Ali Hazlewood, but with a bit of a paranormal twist. Great narration, too!
I NEED the next book in this series.

You Slay Me is a lusty romance novel with amusing supernatural undercurrents. When courier Aisling Grey is dispatched to Paris to deliver a priceless dragon statue to a rich and eccentric female collector, she finds the intended recipient the apparent victim of a demonic ritual. And that's just the beginning of Aisling's discoveries.

So Much Spit!
Reviewed: 11-02-22
The story is fun and the characters are great. The character voices and inflection are good. The audio team didn't do a very good job cleaning up the tracks. The amount of spit smacking decreased my enjoyment and my rating.

Oh, Antimony - I Just Don't Like You

I loved 1-5, but just can't get with Annie. This was worse 6 to get through - maybe it was the absent mice?
Annie is so whiny, especially about her family. Sam seems really immature too. Overall, this book was very teenager-y and not billed as YA.

Story
Enchanted by a powerful spell, Highland laird Drustan MacKeltar slumbered for nearly five centuries hidden deep in a cave, until an unlikely savior awakened him. The enticing lass who dressed and spoke like no woman he'd ever known was from his distant future, where crumbled ruins were all that remained of his vanished world.

I Would Sleep 500 Years... SPOILER ALERT
Reviewed: 03-09-22
And I would sleep 500 more! I don't normally re-read books, but Kiss of the Highlander is an exception to that rule. Maybe because it's steamy without being salacious, but probably because it goes against the trope of the woman giving up everything modern to live in the Middle Ages.
The sexy Highland hunk being willing to move heaven and earth to get to me? Yes, please!

High adventure and dark mystery combine in a sparkling historical romance, by Jodi Taylor writing as Isabella Barclay from The Chronicles of St. Mary's. Lord Ryde, exiled abroad after a scandal, has returned to strip his estate and make a new start in America.

A Bachelor Establishment was full of witty repartee similar to that which my husband and I use to flirt. The characters were endearing, and I didn't see the plot twist coming. Well done.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Utterly Relatable
Reviewed: 06-24-21
I tried to ignore this book because I was leery about spending that much time on a first person account of a lonely and boring journey through space. needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the stories turns.
What really got me, though, was how relatable Grace was. The guy desperately wants to be a coward, but every choice he makes puts him in a situation that requires more courage than the one he is trying to avoid.

Story
Patricia Campbell's life has never felt smaller. Her ambitious husband is too busy to give her a goodbye kiss in the morning, her kids have their own lives, her senile mother-in-law needs constant care, and she's always a step behind on thank-you notes and her endless list of chores. The one thing she has to look forward to is her book club, a close-knit group of Charleston women united by their love of true crime and paperback fiction. At these meetings they're as likely to talk about the Manson family as they are marriage, motherhood, and neighborhood gossip.

This book was great. The characters were well written and each showed considerable growth throughout the story. Except the husbands, of course. They were all assholes.
