You Slay Me, With Dry Mouth

If you could sum up You Slay Me in three words, what would they be?

Constant swallowing and smacking.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The story has from funny parts especially the commentary from Jim the Newfoundland. Great zingers that had me sometimes wondering if my dogs are saying the same thing to me. This series has a lot of potential like the Dark Ones series. It took me 3 months to use a credit to listen to the book, because I was not impressed with the preview snippet. I was bored so I took a gamble with my credit. What I did not like about the book is the background noise. I could actually hear the narrator turning the pages as she was reading!!! The narrator has a smokey voice that sounds like she is smoking three packs a day and the character is in her 30s not her 60s. The worst part is the constant swallowing and smacking. I had to adjust the audio on my phone and radio to get through the book. I will continue to listen to the series, because the story line is interesting and Aisling's sidekicks are funny, but I do hope that the next books have better audios. The smoker's cough voice of Barbara is not too bad. I am getting use to her voice, but the smacking, paper shuffling, and swallowing needs to be addressed pronto.

How could the performance have been better?

The whole audio needs to be redone to eliminate all the swallowing, pages turning and smacking done by the narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I cannot see this book being made into a film. There were too many problems with the audio on this one to imagine the story line.

Multi-Genre Series well written and performed

From the beginning of this book both the Author and the Narrator HAD me. This Fantasy-cum-Romance with a dash of Mystery and written with tongue-in-cheek Humor will compel you to read all of Katie MacAlister's books. Having devoured the Aisling Grey/Green Dragon series, through the even more fascinating Silver Dragon Series, I could not wait for her most recent addition: Love in the Time of Dragons (and I STILL don't know who the real villain is). Keep them coming Katie and Barbara, I am a true devotee.

fun to listen to

Fun story. the lip-smacking noises got to be very noticeable by the end though. Going on and on about snipping the demon's balls got old too. I think the character could have been more comical and less annoying

A Funny Paranormal Mystery

This is a funny paranormal mystery about a hapless woman who working as a courier who, while in Paris, becomes a murder suspect, meets a man who tells her she is to be his life mate, and ends up a very different kind of personal assistant.

The narrator did an adequate job. Her voice sounded a bit more mature than the age I had imagined the character.

Told in such a humorous way it is a a fun light read; I enjoyed it very much. This is the first book in a series. I recommend this book to all who enjoy reading light paranormal with adult romance, humor, and a bit of mystery.

I just can’t

I feel like this is a good story, but I can’t handle listening to the narrator. First, I think she’s supposed to be fairly young- the narrator sounds like she is 70 and a heavy smoker... which may explain her dry mouth... the constant spit maneuvering and dry swallowing was too much for me. I’m going to have to read the book because I can’t listen anymore.

I love this series

awesome book and it really makes more sense as a audio book but the narrator is very annoying. her voice is nice for the story but the lip smacky sloppy sounds she makes are super annoying. gotta agree with other reviews on that but it didn't bother me enough not to finish the book.

Good book, narrator not as much

I kept hearing the narrator swallow and such. It was so irritating that was all I could hear. Story amusing.
