Story
"Who am I becoming?" That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. Outwardly, he appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren’t pretty. So, he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: "Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life." It wasn’t the response he expected, but it was - and continues to be - the answer he needs. Within this audiobook, you’ll find a fascinating road map to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world.

If you long for more of Jesus and own a smartphone—read this book.
Comer’s work can be absolutely life-changing. The lifestyle of Jesus for the 21st century. Leaving a mega church because of his new metrics for what he decided to chase, John Mark Comer, has blessed the church by pointing us back to the precious peace that is solely found in Jesus.
Contentment isn’t found in a click it’s found in a book, with a person, and with those created in his image.
From a massive yet focused list of topics addressed and taught the depth of this book and the practicality of it being applied today is profound. The research of today combined with a rule of life of the past along with: minimalism, solitude, ice cream, dopamine, the reality of a hard life and the scenes of the devil.
Reading this the same week as dopamine nation has made this July 2023 surreal. It’s as if I’ve been living in a daze of distraction, and Comer has shown me the way out ~ following Jesus. Off to the monastery! Just for this Saturday as a new monthly rhythm ;)

Story
In this eye-opening account, Cal Newport debunks the long-held belief that "follow your passion" is good advice. Not only is the cliché flawed - preexisting passions are rare and have little to do with how most people end up loving their work - but it can also be dangerous, leading to anxiety and chronic job hopping. After making his case against passion, Newport sets out on a quest to discover the reality of how people end up loving what they do.

Foundation to a great career.
Simply and a book that tear the myth of follow your passion to shreds.
People get rare and valuable jobs by having rare and valuable skills. The key is not passion, enthusiasm or a great personality.
Also great jobs have: creativity and autonomy with a mission.
Cal Newport is gold when it comes to work & study/school hacks

Reality = Better Than Theory

This book was a great story on the realities of consulting straight out if business school. I became a fan of Justin as he trudged along and his stories, insights and interactions are great for a newbie to business school and the business world in general. I recommend this book to MBAs who think their case competitions are the bread and butter of their B-School education. Perhaps it is, but this book is better than theory.
