Story
“Bad Bobby” Trent, star high school athlete, college scholarship holder, pro-rodeo circuit rider, lived an unencumbered life. He was a man, who, by his own definition, limited his concentration to no more than eight seconds at a time - the time required to ride a bull or saddlebronc and win. He’s tough, independent, shallow, and always looking for a good time. Then his father is murdered. Sheriff Robert Trent, was the longtime chief law enforcement officer of Lodge Pole County Montana. He was stern, fair, honest, and dependable.

More western sheriff stories!
Reviewed: 12-18-18
Always have enjoyed books set in the modern day west - like Longmire by Craig Johnson and Joe Pickett by CJ Box. Kwen Griffeth has found his stride down that book road with Bobbie Trent. The story develops at a nice pace, has colorful backdrops and is narrated extremely well.
Cannot wait for the next one in this series.

Story
When teenagers Danielle and Gracie Sullivan take a clandestine car trip to visit their friend in Montana, little do they know it's the last time anyone will ever hear from them again. The girls and their car simply vanish. Cody Hoyt, who's just lost his job and has fallen off the wagon after a long stretch of sobriety, is in no condition to investigate. But his son Justin, who the girls were going to visit, and his former partner, Cassie Dewell, convince him to drive south to their last known location.

Would you consider the audio edition of NYPD Red to be better than the print version?
NYPD takes a bit to get started up but it makes. The book spends a lot of time building the characters in the beginning of the book - good news is the pace quickens and keeps wanting to listen.

Hadn't listened to Nelson Demille before - wow - what a treat. Well constructed story, so well constructed that it seems slow at the being but it is necessary detail.
Strongly recommend.
