Story
In the year 2047, Lochlan takes the bus to his soul-sucking job answering phones to remain unnoticed. Life is easier that way. Little attachment. Few friends. That means less people caught in the crossfire when he loses control again. The last time he came close to losing it was when he was around Zemila. That was five years ago, just before he disappeared. That was why he disappeared. He’s good at that. Disappearing. Resettling. Being overlooked.

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review*
This was a lot of fun to read. I enjoyed the premise, the magic, the mythology, and the suspense. I really enjoyed the addition of celtic and demigods into the story - what an interesting twist!
The characters were well developed and deeply flawed, which gave them a believable quality. The world building was top notch and rich with texture.
I cannot wait to find out what happens next.

Shallow all around

There was not one thing about this story that I enjoyed. The MC's voice came across painfully immature and I could not stop rolling my eyes every time she came across like a spoiled brat, which was nearly the entire book. The narrator's voice did not match the character voice so that also caused me to strongly dislike this story. No world building, no character arc, and no real plot.
Do yourself a favor - skip this. The execution of the story fell very short of the intended goal.

Story
The summer before her junior year, paleontology geek Natalie Page lands a coveted internship at an Ice Age dig site near Austin, Texas. Natalie, who’s also a plus-size fashion blogger, depends on the retro style and persona she developed to shield herself from her former bullies, but vintage dresses and designer heels aren’t compatible with digging for fossils. But nothing is going to dampen her spirit. She gets to work with her hero, the host of the most popular paleontology podcast in the world. And then there’s Chase, the intern, who’s seriously cute, and Cody, a local boy who’d be even cuter if he were less of a grouch.

There was a lot in the premise about Natalie being a larger size but it hardly played a true part in this story. There was a lot of self fat shaming that I couldn't look past. Natalie was super quick to judge other girls immediately by their weight yet was overly offended if/when it was done to her. She was also quick to hate on the other interns who got into the program based on how much money their parents had. She never gave them a chance, only assumed they were horrid people. I could not get behind that.

This was such a fun and #enjoyable read. The wit, snark, and clever dialogue had me #laughing at times. This was a quick read but it was one I won't soon forget. It was not the murder/mystery I have come to know and love from Barnes but it was #heartfelt. #southernbelles #clever #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

The blurb is what made me interested in this story, but the delivery is what caused me to DNF. The narrator was wrong, the story was choppy & scattered, nothing was clearly thought out. This was terrible and I'm sorry I used a credit on it.

Not worth the time

What a struggle! I loved the first story, yet after reading book 2, I can't remember why I liked the characters to begin with. Far too much time passes with nothing happening. The action scenes were few and far between. There is now love geometry since too many people are in instalove with too many other people. This felt like a contemporary read, not a fantasy read. I will not be continuing the series.

Story
When it first gets announced, the Leteo Institute's memory-alteration procedure seems too good to be true to Aaron Soto; miracle cure-alls don't tend to pop up in the Bronx projects. Aaron can't forget how he's grown up poor, how his friends all seem to shrug him off, and how his father committed suicide in their one-bedroom apartment. Then Thomas shows up. The love Aaron discovers may cost him what's left of his life. But since Aaron can't suddenly stop being gay, Leteo may be the only way out.
