Listen to this book and you will become the super fan that always lurked inside of you.
Reviewed: 09-04-20
This book will guide you through the mystic journey that is “the Mac” (a nickname I now feel I can wield like a super fan.). Having grown up in the 70’s and 80’s and adulting my way through the 90’s Stevies’ music has always been part of it. I had a vague idea of the drama, but I just wanted to twirl along to the music - not really know the people. The intro to this book will give you every reason you need to go forward and learn their backstory, because it is a mythology of our time. You will want to have Spotify open and pause the story to listen to every single song that Rob Sheffield describes. I now have to listen to it again, with all of my albums out and my computer browser open so I can see the pictures, the people, and all the moments in time as I listen to this tale as old as time unwind.

I liked this book enough that I thought about what was to unfold next when I wasn’t listening to it. I loved the narrators voice, and feel of a British persons perspective. I also enjoyed the main characters development into her own hero. I wish there was more depth into some of the other characters, and maybe more connections between the unexplained events.

Scariest thriller I’ve listened to yet.

I love being scared by a good book, but don’t read this all alone in a remote cabin. You will become consumed with this story, and it will be difficult to leave it unread. The main character was so relatable, and the horror show of a life that she was forced to live will keep you on edge.

You will enjoy getting caught up in this - and it will unfold both as you expect it too, and not at all where you thought you’d end up.
