Story
Aria and her sisters return to the Human Realm of Haven Falls to find one of their own that’s gone missing. They soon discover things have changed in the Human Realm and that nothing is what it seems, including Knox, the egotistical, self-centered, frustratingly gorgeous man who declared himself King during their absence. Sparks fly when the two enter a fiery battle of wills as Aria learns she is more than just a witch in the Hecate bloodline; she is much, much, more.

Another good one, AH!

I had just read the Playing with Monsters series by Amelia Hutchins and really enjoyed it. Had a bit of book hangover after finishing it and thinking that the next couldn’t be as good. I’ve only read/listened to this first book but so far I have really enjoyed the characters, the plot and her writing style! I LOL a few times at some if the characters conversations and loved the perfect amount of steam. Definitely New Adult but as an adult I thought it was great fun! On to the next…

I tried resisting him. I fought to ensure history wouldn’t repeat itself. In the end, Jackson and I knew he would win. He broke down my walls, obliterated every excuse, and made me love him against all odds. Then he shattered my heart into thousands of pieces. I can’t let him back in. It was hard enough surrendering my heart the first time. If he hurts me again, I’ll never survive. No matter what he thinks, we’re beholden to our past.

Interesting twist on common theme!
Reviewed: 03-24-21
Firstly- 1st book Beloved was the first one I’ve read/listened to with this author. It immediately enthralling and made me want to continue walking just to listen to it!
When it ended I rolled right into this nook, Beholden. It didn’t go where I expected like most common romance novels. I don’t want to give away spoilers but it has a hint of a Nicolas Sparks’ novel. Definitely a good listen! The narrator was also very good and did a decent distinction between voices so you knew who was talking.
Definitely give it a go if you like a good story mixed with some sexy mixed in!

Spicy Mythology Fun
Reviewed: 03-11-21
Definitely an escape with good characters. Didn’t know much about mythology and their relationships to each other but this gave it a fun, sexy twist. I’m all for adult fantasy and wish there were more decent ones out there like this. Read the 3 book series and it is a fun, hot and spicy escape!

Fantasy for YA Audience
Reviewed: 03-06-21
This is a decent fantasy first book. It’s well written, with good characters, and the narration is decent though in some parts the narrator can sound robotic.
That said, I am an adult and was looking for a fantasy series similar to ACOTAR. This one was recommended on a site so I decided to give it a try. Although this has some of the similar supernatural elements, the romance factor is non-existent to very PG and definitely meant for the pre-teen, YA audience. If that is for you, you’ll enjoy the story.
As a side bar, I decided to give book 2 (“The Wicked King”) a try, but after an hour, I decided that this type of YA story telling is just not my wheelhouse. (Audible was great in letting me return it.)
Hope it helps other readers to filter out YA vs. New Adult vs. Romance.
