A lyrical life story illustrating the best and worst of humankind — all mixed and muddled. Draws you into the dreams, failures, victories of a cast of vivid characters. A classic novel worth every minute.

Appealing, authentic voice; funny; interesting characters. Explores the importance of family bonds with all its difficulties and pain. A bit sentimental at times but worth the listen.

Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Story
Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes best-selling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they're living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer's block.

Story
Eliza Budley is a beautiful widow whose husband gambled away his fortune. Lady Fortescue reminds the others that, to be fair, Mrs. Budley has no relatives on whom she can call. Gentle Mrs. Budley thinks she has escaped her fate until Sir Philip comes up with a plan: He has heard that the elderly Marquess of Peterhouse is senile, a widower, extremely rich, and unlikely to remember whether Mrs. Budley is a relative or not. So off Mrs. Budley goes. But the marquess turns out to be not so old, hardly senile, and, in fact, quite handsome.

The poor relations are off on another adventure. In these happy stories, the end is rarely a mystery but the journey and the characters are lively and delightful. Everything ends as it should. The villain receives her comeuppance and the lovers overcome their obstacles.
