Story
From age 11, in 1974, until she left the show, in 1981, Melissa Anderson literally grew up before the viewers of Little House on the Prairie. Melissa, as Mary, is remembered by many as the blind sister - and she was the only actor in the series to be nominated for an Emmy. In The Way I See It, she takes listeners onto the set and inside the world of the iconic series created by Michael Landon, who, Melissa discovered, was not perfect, as much as he tried to be. In this memoir she also shares her memories of working with guest stars like Todd Bridges, Mariette Hartley, Sean Penn, Patricia Neal, and Johnny Cash.

Great narration. Story is disappointing.
Reviewed: 01-07-21
The book is basically Melissa's summary of every Little House episode. Not much on personal insights and opinions.
Jane Pfitsch did a great job on narration. She captured the different voice inflections in a wonderful way. She is a great reader.

Story
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Shoeless Joe, the soul-stirring novel on which the movie Field of Dreams is based, is more than just another baseball story. Kinsella captures the spiritual dimension that baseball represents for its most determined devotees in this tale of love and the power of dreams to make people come alive.

Great narration, story not as good as the movie
Reviewed: 09-04-20
I usually find that books are much better than the movies made from them. Not in this case.
The book's storyline of Kinsella's father is much better in Field of Dreams. Ray's refusal to talk to him in the book does not make sense.
The book's storyline of Eddie Scissons is superfluous and mercifully not in the movie. The same goes for the mysterious twin brother Richard.
Still, a wonderful listen and absolutely great narration by Grover Gardner. His ability to portray different characters with slight changes in voice inflections was amazing.

Story
For Meredith Gale, ending her life seems like her only choice, and that choice is the reason she’s dangling by her fingertips from a bridge high above the freezing water of the San Francisco Bay. But someone or some thing has other plans for Meredith, and as her fingers slip from the cold steel of the bridge, a disembodied voice asks her a simple question: “Candidate 13: Do you wish to be saved?” Realizing her mistake too late, Meredith screams “Yes!” and instantly finds herself transported to a mysterious island, alongside hundreds of other Candidates like her.

Story
Billy Todd has always been different. Most people called him odd, and those were the nice people. Though he was born with a learning disability, Billy's parents never allowed him to consider himself disabled. Raised to be self-sufficient, Billy might not be as smart as some, but he was a lot smarter than people realized.

Great narration, but many plot holes
Reviewed: 11-29-19
Christopher Lane does a fantastic job in speaking for so many characters, including women. For a story about a plague that wipes out 95% of the population, it sure seems like a lot of people survived in a small area. An entire family of four survived intact. The odds of that happening are astronomical. The story was better when it was just Billy and a few others trying to get by.

Story
When Star Wars burst on to the big screen in 1977, an unfailingly polite golden droid called C-3PO captured imaginations around the globe. But C-3PO wasn’t an amazing display of animatronics with a unique and unforgettable voice-over. Inside the metal costume was an actor named Anthony Daniels. In this deeply personal memoir, Anthony Daniels recounts his experiences of the epic cinematic adventure that has influenced pop culture for more than 40 years. For the very first time, he candidly describes his most intimate memories as the only actor to appear in every Star Wars film.

Story
Discovered in the attic in which she spent the last years of her life, Anne Frank’s remarkable diary has since become a world classic - a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and an eloquent testament to the human spirit. In 1942, with Nazis occupying Holland, a 13-year-old Jewish girl and her family fled their home in Amsterdam and went into hiding. For the next two years, until their whereabouts were betrayed to the Gestapo, they and another family lived cloistered in the “Secret Annex” of an old office building.

The world lost a tremendous person because of ignorance and blind hate. Anne was a genius with words. In the end, she still believed that most people had good hearts. Selma Blair's narration is fantastic, if a little fast-paced. How could you not be deeply touched by this story?
