Nevada Barr brings National Park Ranger Anna Pigeon to the wild beauty of Acadia National Park in the New York Times bestseller, Boar Island.

Anna Pigeon, in her career as a National Park Service ranger, has had to deal with all manner of crimes and misdemeanors, but cyberbullying and stalking are new ones. The target is Elizabeth, the adopted teenage daughter of her friend, Heath Jarrod. Elizabeth is driven to despair by the disgusting rumors spreading online and bullying texts. Until one day Heath finds her daughter, Elizabeth, in the midst of an unsuccessful suicide attempt. And then she calls in the cavalry - her aunt Gwen and her friend, Anna Pigeon.

While they try to deal with the fragile state of affairs - and find the person behind the harassment - the three adults decide the best thing to do is to remove Elizabeth from the situation. Since Anna is about to start her new post as acting chief ranger at Acadia National Park in Maine, the three will join her and stay at a house on the cliff of a small island near the park - Boar Island. But the move east doesn't solve the problem. The stalker has followed them. And Heath (a paraplegic) and Elizabeth aren't alone on the otherwise deserted island. At the same time, Anna has barely arrived at Acadia before a brutal murder is committed by a killer uncomfortably close to her.

Boar Island is a brilliant intertwining of past and present, of victims and killers, in a compelling audiobook that could come only from Nevada Barr.

Nevada Barr has written another excellent book. She is one of my favorite authors. She has kept the Anna Pigeon series fresh, and always writes believable and original additions. Barbara Rosenblat always does a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. If you're a fan of the mystery/thriller genre then you won't want to miss this book.

Another excellent book

Boar Island does not disappoint. The narrator is great company as the story progresses. Recommend.

Anna Pigeon has been a favorite!

I have read every Anna Pigeon novel, and all of Nevada Barr's novels, in general. I never once did I hear a voice as raspy & uhealthy sounding as Barbara Rosenblatt's. I felt like I could smell cigarette smoke the entire. narration. Unfortunately her voice is offensive to my ears. She seems to overact, as well. I did not hear the voice of Nevada Barr or Anna Pigeon in her narration. Unfortunately that limits the other beloved Anna pigeon novels that I can listen to on audio. I'm bummed.

Barbara Rosenblatt is hard to listen to

Story okay, though not Barr’s best. I missed the wonderful local color she’ usually provides. But the main problem for me was the narrator. Very melodramatic, often screechy and adding emphases that made no sense, with mispronunciations of some words.
It pretty much ruined the book for me.

Unpleasant narrator

Once again Anna plunges her now over fifty body into the path of evil in this tale of cyber bullying and the madness of aging women.

I've loved her stories about National Parks. This included no park info. Was just a story with Acadia Park mentioned. Good story but had expectations not fulfilled.

Not her best

I found the twin stuff way overdone without the underlying grieving being given its due. But what I really missed was the flora and fauna and life of a park ranger that is normally so prevalent in the Anna Pigeon novels and give them an added dimension.

Still good but not a favourite

I love Anna Pigeon 's adventures and it's good to see that age isn't slowing her down any. Her extended family plays a good part of this story. Each character experiences and learns a new meaning of family.

The meaning of family

Wow, I have never wondered through the whole series if I made a mistake buying a book by Nevada Barr. Now I have. Cliches pop out when a novel is poorly read. The reader made the beginning sound like a breathless mockery. The end was just poor. Maybe I'll have to try reading this in print to see if it really was so poorly characterized.

Fair story made poor by tease
