Story
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

If you I want to listen to a book that makes it sound like you're just sitting there listening to CNN or other crappy news stations, then have at it. It is full of woke checklist items. You are constantly being reminded that there's a room full of white people...CHECK...(that is actually a quote from the book.) Girls changing to boys and boys changing to girls....CHECK. Need more diversity...CHECK. Climate change....CHECK. Crap crap crap. I read fiction so I don't have to be reminded of the real crappy world. Why can't people just write good books and leave out all the political BS.

Aunt Tillie is on a rampage - what else is new, right? - and she's about to teach her nieces a lesson about messing with her. Bay and her cousins believe Aunt Tillie is a little too involved with her soap operas, so she curses them into a world that's one big soap opera...and it's one created in Aunt Tillie's convoluted mind. Prepare yourself for a world of underground cities, mobsters, over-sexed hospitals, and back-from-the-dead heroes and heroines...along with so much more. That's on top of Aunt Tillie, the diva of the story, who has not only an evil twin but an eviler one, too.

Great book but has a lot of graphic details. I did love hearing all the different actors voice their characters. I would say that I loved this book if not for all the gross graphic morbid details.

Oh what a difference a narrator makes!

book 8 and on has narrator change
Reviewed: 07-18-21
book 1 to 7 are narrated by Aris. over time her different character voices really became entertaining. Her Thistle voice had more of an edgy snarky valley-girl tone and was great! Now comes book 8 and a NEW narrator, Hollis McCarthy. She does great in Kristen Painter's Miss Frost (Jayne Frost) series - A Nocturne Falls Mystery series. Miss Frost is an Ice Elf from the North Pole and she really sounds like an elf so it really works for those books. But unfortunately not for witches. Thistle sounds like a female dopey elf with a husky voice. It is hard to imagine Thistle as being a good-looking girl with how she sounds now. I don't want to diss on HOLLIS but there are a lot of books in this series and I used to look so forward to listening to them and now my enthusiasm is waning. Sorry but I wish Aris had done these other books too or at least Hollis try similar voices to match the personalities Aris gave them. I am bummed.
