Just an excellent book with so many details I’ve never heard before, giving you the sense of being a fly on the wall at the start of the rebellion of immorality.

The narrator was fantastic, because I have listened to another version, and did not like the narrator at all. However, I did not pay attention that this is an abridged version, which I do not like, because what the writer writes should be heard in full. That said, anyone who has never read Atlas Shrugged, and might not read a longer version, or be turned off by a poor narrator performance, should listen to this version or read the book!

The narration is brilliant and every time it’s over I’m in tears……❤️. You have to listen to this book at least three or four times because there’s so much humor in it that you don’t catch with the first go round of the second go round or the third ground round… get out your knitting and enjoy!!

Choice in Education

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Thomas Sowell has done the many years of study,
and thorough empirical research, to back up the facts of education in America, and the imperative need for choice in education. Competition makes everyone better or suffer the consequences. And keep in mind, there is nothing in the US Constitution about education. NOTHING. It is not the United States’ DC government job to educate. States may offer education, but neither may they exact a monopoly. Therefore, the Department of Education is an unconstitutional agency, robbing billions American citizens $$, and robbing millions of American children of a top notch education. The American public education system is nothing but a blatant monopoly…… If you have young children this is the book you should read. If you love your liberty, this is the book you should read. I will add finally that the narrator is superb.

I highly recommend this memoir for anybody wanting to better understand America prior to the Civil War, (as lived and observed by key people involved in the Civil War). The here detailed account of their participation in the Civil War, is utterly enlightening.

This was an utterly fascinating look at both the man prior to a military life, and during a military life. You will learn much from the perspective of geography, means of travel, entrepreneurship, a war career of service, leadership and superb strategic thinking,
to the technology of the era. You will feel the driving purpose for the survival of a limited government born to secure individual rights. You will be magnificently set back in time. History come alive.
