Story
In ancient Greece, a skilled marble sculptor has been blessed by a goddess who has given his masterpiece—the most beautiful woman the town has ever seen—the gift of life. After marrying her, he expects Galatea to please him, to be obedience and humility personified. But she has desires of her own and yearns for independence. In a desperate bid by her obsessive husband to keep her under control, Galatea is locked away under the constant supervision of doctors and nurses. But with a daughter to rescue, she is determined to break free, whatever the cost.

Starkly poignant.

Brilliantly written and beautifully executed. Madeline Miller breaks off the hilt in the dagger of truth she leaves in you (yet again). Ruth Wilson was a perfectly chosen narrator and should absolutely continue to do audiobooks.

Story
Beast plunges you into the world of Edward Buckmaster, a man alone on an empty moor in the west of England. What he has left behind we don't yet know. What he faces is an existential battle with himself, the elements, and something he begins to see in the margins of his vision: some creature that is tracking him, the pursuit of which will become an obsession. This short, shocking, and exhilarating novel is a vivid exploration of isolation, courage, and the search for truth.

The journey of finding.
Reviewed: 04-26-24
The journey of finding—not one’s self, not even of truly finding answers. The journey of garnering wisdom. The hero’s journey, the grail journey, the journey of finding inner union. An important responsibility that some are given, and upon returning to reality, are loaded with the difficult task of trying to put was has occurred into words. Paul Kingsnorth has done a brilliant job and Simon Vance was the perfect narrator to do the journey justice.

Story
Pride and Prejudice has delighted generations of readers with its unforgettable cast of characters, carefully choreographed plot, and a hugely entertaining view of the world and its absurdities. With the arrival of eligible young men in their neighbourhood, the lives of Mr and Mrs Bennet and their five daughters are turned inside out and upside down.

Lindsay Duncan is amazing

She’s an amazing actress and does one of my favorite novels absolute justice. My only complaint would be the suddenness between chapters. I believe this production was bought by Audible and I assume that there is a musical outro after each chapter that they are removing, but whatever it is, it would likely be preferable to the jolt.
