Uncomfortably unbelievable
Reviewed: 07-05-24
Was hoping this would be a sweet and amusing tale. Unfortunately this is more like a car crash. Had trouble identifying with the characters who didn't act rationally most of the time. My interest diminished throughout the story and had to force myself to care enough to finish the book. Narrator isn't bad, but the base information of this novel is flawed. Don't waste your credit

Tried to get involved with the characters but found them flat and uninteresting. Story was trite but the narrator was okay. Have moved this to my "stinkers" list

Save me from characters acting strangely!
Reviewed: 09-20-21
The premise is okay but each character has these illogical quirks or instances when you wonder what the author was thinking. Why does the protagonist have such angst about her history and totally forget it to do something stupid? How does the love interest allow his partner to act illegally despite being an officer of the law? it was painful to listen to. Hope I can return it

A favorite book, but the narration...

I have really liked this book since I read it many years ago. It's too bad that they used such a terrible narrator with such a poor sense of pacing. I bought this Audible book in spite of the performance, but it really does detract from the charming story.

Blossom Valley, West Virginia, is home to Smythe Orchards, Winnie and her Granny's beloved 25-acre farm and family business. But any way you slice it, it's struggling. That's why they're trying to drum up business with the "First Annual Christmas at the Orchard", a good old-fashioned holiday festival with enough delicious draw to satisfy apple-picking locals and cider-loving tourists alike - until the whole endeavor takes a sour turn when the body of Nadine Cooper, Granny's long-time, grudge-holding nemesis, is found lodged in the apple press.

Unrealistic
Reviewed: 01-21-20
Could not finish the book. How unrealistic that grandma baked all of the goods for sale, yet had time to carry out long tours and various other tasks. Did I miss that they have several employees working in the shop and orchards? No other way for them to wrangle so many tourists and manage their business. Yet the book started out only saying they had no money, not that they would have a problem paying anyone. Sorry, this book is being returned.

I normally enjoy this type of book. However most of the stories were shallow and mundane. I advisers to avoid wasting their time on it.
