Story
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Narration was spectacular! SK’s style presents like a screenplay. The storyline itself left me a bit empty: big coaster tracks with little dips, and a few loose ends. I liked it, but I can’t see myself reading it again.

Story
Number-one New York Times best-selling author Harlan Coben set huge sales records with last year’s Six Years - and he’s poised to do it again in his next breathtaking stand-alone thriller. Harlan Coben, author of six consecutive instant number-one New York Times best sellers and a total of 24 award-winning, best-selling, and internationally acclaimed novels, returns with another ripped-from-real-life thriller full of impossibly high emotional stakes and the real-to-life characters for which he has become famous.

Story
Once, I would never have imagined myself here. But I’m settled now. In a place I love, in a home I renovated, spending time with new friends I adore, and working a job that fulfills me. I am reconciling the past and laying the groundwork for the future. Then Garrett Frost moves in next door. He’s obstinate and too bold, a raging force of nature that disrupts the careful order of my life. I recognize the ghosts that haunt him, the torment driving him.

Awful
Reviewed: 10-02-22
This is not Sylvia Day-quality. Is this abridged? The story and characters are so dreadful I’ve had to put it down 4 times. The characters interact with each other as if they’re 13yo. The narrator’s “male” voice is also off putting.

Story
My name is Gemma Lucas, and my life's a mess. Alex is gone, my dad's trapped in his own mind, and my mom's working for the dark side. Not to mention that Nicholas refuses to quit haunting me. The world has also entered apocalyptic mode. Every day more vampires, witches, and fey run the streets. Innocent people are dying, the Mark of Malefiscus is showing up everywhere, and I'm the only one who can stop it.

The story had a lot of “fluff” and dragged on. The male narrator faded out frequently, as if he was turning away from his mic, and it became distracting.

Story
Never mix business with pleasure. Never bring politics into the bedroom. In a way I did both when I took Jackson Rutledge as a lover. I can't say I wasn't warned. Two years later, he was back. Walking into a deal I'd worked hard to close. Under the tutelage of Lei Yeung, one of the sharpest businesswomen in New York, I had picked up a thing or two since Jax walked away. I wasn't the girl he once knew, but he hadn't changed. Unlike the last time we'd drifted into each other's lives, I knew exactly what I was dealing with...and how addictive his touch could be.

Disappointed.

I love Day’s books, but I’ve yet to find one I can actually stand to listen to for longer than 5 minutes, due to recording quality or the narrator. So disappointing.

Where has he been for 10 years, and what does he know about the day, more than half a life ago, when he was taken?

At the beginning, all I could think was, really, this formula? Again? But it definitely picked up. Details were pulled together really well for a strong ending.
Always love Steven Weber!
