This book isn’t for everyone, but it could be. Shamen Durek is direct, uses profanity, challenges every structure currently in power and accepted, and speaks a tremendous amount of wisdom and truth. Some stuff made me bristle. As a white American affluent retired female physician, brought up with constrictive Christian beliefs, Shamen Durek spoke disparagingly about many areas that had been well-known ways of life for me. But we’ll-known doesn’t make right and after checking in with myself following a “bristle”, I listened and while there are some statements that still seem a bit over-reaching, the assessments seem valid and the advice is appropriate and appreciated for me. I find it liberating to recognize my power in shaping my own life and contributing to the whole is within my abilities. Not everyone is ready to hear this message, but more and more are getting there. Thank you for bringing this insight to more people.

Story
Spontaneous remission, the placebo effect, and energy healing — these phenomena have baffled the medical community for decades. What do all these marvels tell us? “Our current models of medicine fall short of understanding the depths of our human healing potential,” says Dr. Shamini Jain. “We are on the cusp of finally becoming awake to our human healing potential. A growing number of scientists are exploring a new path — a true expansion of science joined with understandings from ancient concepts of spirituality.”

Absolutely loved the reporting of science (and sometimes lack of) around energy healing. For scientifically minded individuals, who know energy healing is real and they still can’t get out of their own way to experience, believe, or practice, this was incredibly inspirational. Thank you

Story
Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

One of the most insightful and informative books I’ve ever heard. So many things resonated for me with regards to why judging people is never appropriate, especially without even taking the time to hear their story. Once they’ve told their story, judging won’t be an option.

Grateful for the recommendation. It wasn’t an easy listen because obviously I’ve been a perpetrator of racial injustice without even understanding my role. I know this is true because of what bubbled up inside of me as listening to the words. Thank you for revealing this shadow side of myself and presenting it from a perspective I would never have had access to with my advantages. I hope others will take the opportunity to hear this and then together we can truly work for dignity, respect, and justice for all people.

Think and Grow Rich is the number-one inspirational and motivational classic for individuals who are interested in furthering their lives and reaching their goals by learning from important figures in history. The text read in this audiobook is the original 1937 edition written by Napoleon Hill and inspired by Andrew Carnegie - and while it has often been reproduced, no updated version has ever been able to compete with the original.

Some wonderfully relevant information, somewhat outdated terminology (majority directed toward and referencing male dominated society). Understanding the era it was written makes that understandable but I was amazed that some of the concepts are just being expounded upon by authors today. Ahead of his time in that regard.

The idea that “thoughts become things” has become a meme in popular culture. It’s held as a firm proposition in metaphysics, and some spiritual teachers ascribe infinite powers to the mind. But are these claims scientifically accurate? What does the scientific evidence tell us about the scope of the human mind to transform thoughts into reality?

Not exactly what I had thought, but that was my bad. Expected a book reading...maybe a little more concise and smooth but because it sounded like a live audience there was a little more “off the cuff” dialogue and not quite as easy for me to follow.

Lawyers. Accountants. Software Engineers. That what Mom and Dad encouraged us to become. They were wrong. Gone is the age of "left-brain" dominance. The future belongs to a different kind of person with a different kind of mind: designers, inventors, teachers, storytellers - creative and emphatic "right-brain" thinkers whose abilities mark the fault line between who gets ahead and who doesn't.
