I liked the historical accuracy regarding the time period. The reader was excellent. Handled some of the unsavory truths of the era well.

Lizbeth Rose is awaiting the arrival of her sister Felicia and her husband’s younger brother Eli in Texcoma. Yet bad news has traveled ahead of them, as Eli is called back to San Diego, taking Peter along with him, splitting them apart in more ways than one as their enemies’ plans for revenge come to fruition.

This almost reads like a complicated romance novel. Too much preoccupation with how good looking the male main characters are and a convenient feelgood happy ending. An easy listen. Unlike some reviews, I thought the narration was fine.

He was a tough-guy Welshman softened by the affections of a breathtakingly beautiful woman; she was a modern-day Cleopatra madly in love with her own Mark Antony. For nearly a quarter of a century, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were Hollywood royalty, and their fiery romance - often called "the marriage of the century" - was the most notorious, publicized, and celebrated love affair of its day.

It was interesting but read like a publicist’s press release. The author clearly loved his subjects but I was hoping for something deeper. I did not realize this book had been written so long ago and while Taylor was still living.

But what seemed like a straight-forward job turns into a massacre as the crate is stolen. I enjoyed the first book but was utterly confused by this one. Perhaps listening, as opposed to reading, made it difficult to remember who was speaking and there were so many characters, some with more than one name. As I listened to the epilogue, I once again said to myself, “Who is this? Where is she?/he? What is going on?” I do not recommend this book as an audiobook (but the reader was excellent!)
