Story
Growing up in the church, Kevin and Melissa Fredericks were taught endless rules and expectations around dating, sex, and marriage, but not a lot about what actually makes a relationship work. There were conversations that they didn’t know they needed to have, deep-rooted fears that affected how they communicated, and seasons of change that put their marriage to the test.

GREAT BOOK, it was all the things
Reviewed: 10-22-22
I will be reading this again. It was a great listen, notepad ready nextime! It was more than just a story, it was a relatable story as a church girl who has struggled with common sense and what I saw, or understood, vs what I was taught and the contradicting actions of those folks. This was extremely relable and not over bearing. Great job you 2.

Loved It!
Reviewed: 03-25-22
I finally got the time to sit and listen to this book. I absolutely loved it. I could relate with so much in this book that it's uncanny. I really liked Will's ability through Jada's birthday response, to recognize the things that were wrong within himself, indifferent maybe a better word, or not accepted from those closest to him and seek help with them. Self Revelation and working to become the best version of yourself, in all facets, especially emotionally, is a very hard journey. But keep up the good work, Will, and keep loving on your village. You have a beautiful family. The book was an amazing read, listen. I will be sending a copy to my kids; there are some true gems here.

Great listen on my travels.

I loved this book. There is just something magical about hearing the authors voice telling their story; then to add the parents voice in it as well, captivated me. I was able to listen to this book in 2 days. I loved the book so much I bought one for my daughter, who is a beautiful dark skinned black "princess" who navigates every day in a space where she is 1 of 20 amongst 100s, and her friend, who happens to be of mixed race. I hope they enjoy the book as much as I did.
Thanks for taking a stand for us in those spaces where it's more difficult for self to be quiet, rather than to speak up. It says a lot about how you were raised and I'm here for it. I was able to speak to my daughter just the other day about regrets; regretting being 1 of and not educating in those spaces. Education is definitely needed and it does something to ones inner voice to speak or to be silent. I pray she chooses to speak. I stumbled upon your book just in time. Thank you for telling your story.

I purchased the hard copy of this book along with a couple of others by the author; over a year ago. I am so glad this book is available on Audible. I really enjoyed the delivery of the book, the content as well. It did not disappoint and is exactly what I needed in this phase of my life while I'm making changes and embracing being unapologetic about my decisions. I highly recommend this book for anyone in a 'transition phase' of their lives.
Kudos to the author; you have a new fan in me.
