Story
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Inspiration you need if you are feeling down
Reviewed: 09-02-19
It is one of the best and one of the most inspirational books I have read in recent years. For me, it was also one of those listens where I could not put my Airpods down. If you believe that what you become is dependent on your genes and where you are born then this is a must-read book for you. For me, the biggest takeaway was that life is not always meant to give you happiness all the time and we should learn to learn the lessons from our failures and this can only happen if we start owning our failures instead of letting failures own us.

Story
In 2011, a 26-year-old libertarian programmer named Ross Ulbricht launched the ultimate free market: the Silk Road, a clandestine website hosted on the Dark Web where anyone could trade anything - drugs, hacking software, forged passports, counterfeit cash, poisons - free of the government's watchful eye. It wasn't long before the media got wind of the new website where anyone - not just teenagers and weed dealers but terrorists and black hat hackers - could buy and sell contraband detection-free.

Would you consider the audio edition of Angel to be better than the print version?
The style and the energy with which Jason has narrated the Angel investing tips, it makes it even more interesting and thrilling to listen to the book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Has to be Jason.
Which scene was your favorite?
My favorite scene is when Ev Williams and Biz Stone comes to Jason to pitch Twitter and how honestly Jason says to them that their idea is stupid. However, at the end of the chapter, he accepts his 50M mistake and teaches us to not argue on the product but bet on the founder.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
That being Founder and CEO is one of the most ruthless, dirtiest and yet rewarding job if you can develop a thick skin, move fast, ship products and motivate the team. Also, the book shares one of the most brutal fact that 8 out of 10 startups will fail and it is the home run like Uber which will get you the most returns.
Any additional comments?
Loved each and every chapter of the book. It is a must-read book for not only VCs but for every founder.

Story
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

Story
There have been many books - on a large and small scale - about Steve Jobs, one of the most famous CEOs in history. But this book is different from all the others. Becoming Steve Jobs takes on and breaks down the existing myth and stereotypes about Steve Jobs. The conventional, one-dimensional view of Jobs is that he was half genius, half jerk from youth, an irascible and selfish leader who slighted friends and family alike.

What made the experience of listening to Grain Brain the most enjoyable?
Last year when I came to know about LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) diet, I became an immense fan and its immediate follower.
While searching for books on brain science last week, I stumbled upon this pot of gold (first book in the pic) and at that time I was not knowing if there is any correlation between how brain works and our carb intake.
The facts shared by the book on carbs through conducted studies are just staggering. Not only carbs is the reason behind our pot belly but it actually causes more cholesterol than saturated fats.
The thing that sent shiver down my spine is the research which has proven that high carb is the source of all the brain related diseases.
I cannot reiterate enough how harmful high intake of Carbs, Gluten and Fructose can be to our body and brain. And most importantly how critical it is to exercise daily.
We still have a month to start the new year on a healthy note. Grab a copy of this book and do yourself a favor.
