Lack of chapter titles
Reviewed: 04-06-25
Over 130 chapters and a dozen stories. And it’s simply Chapter one. Chapter two. Etc.
It’s impossible to find a story and just listen to it. Or even the start of any story.
Totally lazy publisher that makes the book useless.
The bland narration just adds to the disappointment.

On a spring day in 1947, Mr. Rickey, the powerful General Manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers, summons heavyweight champion Joe Louis, tap star Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, and actor Paul Robeson to his hotel room in Manhattan. But a power struggle ensues when the eloquent Robeson raises questions about Rickey's motivations to integrate white baseball.

It’s dull

I have over two dozen books on Rickey and/or Robinson. It’s an incredible story that changed America. This play is simply boring monologue after boring monologue. I expected to love this. It took me multiple listens to get through it.

The Chin Rules

I read this autobiography when it came out in hardback 19 years ago and loved it. The only thing that could make it better is Bruce Campbell narrating his own life. Think about it. Funny, self-deprecating, insightful - this is a superb look at a not-quite Hollywood star’s life. Highly recommended.
Bruce also narrates the follow-up, Hail to the Chin.
