About this listen

Life is full of choices. Right now, yours is whether or not to buy the autobiography of a mid-grade, kind of hammy actor.

Am I supposed to know this guy? you think to yourself.

No, and that's exactly the point. The truth is that though you might not have a clue who I am, there are countless working stiffs like me out there, grinding away every day at the wheel of fortune.

If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor is my first book, and I invite you to ride with me through the choppy waters of blue collar Hollywood.

Okay, so buy the damned book already!

Chin-tacular

I loved this book. Bruce (we're on a first name basis) has a perfect voice for narration. I could (and did) listen to him talk for hours. The book made me realize just how human actors actually are. His stories are funny and his observations of society are hilarious. I enjoyed every minute of this book.

Makes you understand the movie & TV business

This was a very hysterical book. Bruce explains his family background and complete history of the film business. I never saw Evil Dead, but now it's on my Netflix list. He also explains everything you ever wanted to know about tv & movie business. Fair warning though there is no mention of his Burn Notice days, as it was only in season 4.

A Look Into the Life of a Hollywood Working Stiff

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. It offers an incredible and hilarious look into Bruce Cambell's life, and is enjoyable, even if you don't know him.

What other book might you compare If Chins Could Kill to and why?

There are not many other books that I have read or listened to that are similar. ICCK is its own beast.

Which character – as performed by Bruce Campbell – was your favorite?

All are wonderful, Irvin Shapiro and the Acid-Dropping Fan being standouts.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There was many a moment when I physically laughed out loud at his well-told anecdotes.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book to anyone who would be interested in the crazy world of Hollywood.

Great & Funny

This book was super entertaining and Bruce did a great job writing and reading it.

I particularly enjoyed the part about his childhood which I found absolutely hilarious and similar to mine.

All and all great read with lots of laughs!

Hail to the King baby

Looking into this book after watching the Evil Dead films and finishing the Starz tv show felt natural for me. Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams is my favorite horror movie character and I wanted to get to know the man behind the chainsaw and this book delivers. His story about his childhood resonates with the reader while also being captivating and funny. The story then goes from his childhood to being a young man trying to make the first Evil Dead movie with his friends. The book then goes into the 90s and early 2000s detailing his life and many roles he has had over the years. What makes this a truly great listen is the King himself, Bruce reads the entire book. I wish he would read more audio books because he has an awesome voice and reads with emotion and passion while other books read by celebrities come off as choppy and robotic. Also the sequel to this book, Hail to the Chins is just as good and picks up where this book leaves off. Both books are a must own for any Bruce Campbell fan.

If you like his work, you'll enjoy.

Enjoyable listen, and appreciated the added words and acting from the man himself. Recommended for fans of Bruce Campbell's characters, as he channels a little of all of them into this audiobook. Interesting stories about the behind the scenes on his various projects, as well as interactions and inside stories from the industry overall.

in short. Groovy.

Pure groovy,

What an amazing journey this man has gone on. It was really cool hearing the back story to some of the most popular cinema both small and big.

Solid book all the way around

Bruce's recounting of his initial independent film endeavors in Michigan and his behind the scenes description of the blue collar side of Hollywood make a great book. I listened to it twice and my aspiring film maker brother loved it too. Buy this book.
