Story
With enemies at the gates and trouble at home, a man must defend his clan armed only with his magical martial arts and a futuristic spaceship fortress. His enemies won't know what hit them. After finally defeating the Matriarch of the Crimson Dragon clan, Theo's left with a disunited group of tribes swearing loyalty to him in name only. And why should they? He's got no towering fortress. No chests of gold. No loyal army. Yet.

Story
Not every man can handle a magitech gauntlet that speaks in floating silver text, or a handful of women with unique...needs. I’m not every man. When a bad blind date got worse - like, interdimensional lightning storm worse - I woke up to a realm of dragon women, magical kobolds, and a playful monkey girl with a painful secret. I also accidentally (totally on purpose) stole an ancient artifact in the form of a black gauntlet that bonded with my body and unlocked various new abilities. So what’s the catch? The glove wasn’t meant for me. It was meant for the fabled Hero of Silura.

Story
Jade has spent her life fighting boredom in the terminally ill ward. Surfing the net or reading, she always envied the ability of others to go out and experience the world. She knew her wish to live a normal life was far beyond her reach, but after waking up one morning without the sounds of her life support, she opens her eyes and finds herself with a weak but healthy body in a magical world.

This story starts well. Solid character development and an interesting Magic system. However there is no real progression. I finished the book feeling like I had just read a prologue. No climactic event, no real peril, and no direction for the story.
After reading reviews for the second book I will chalk this up to wasted time. Thank goodness I got on a 2 for 1 special so that I don't feel like I wasted a credit.

Story
After a harrowing escape from the Weatherblight, Ari, Kerys, and Eva find themselves on Deepwater Spire, an ancient structure surrounded by endless ocean. With no other options, they bide their time, slowly building up the essence they need to reactivate the teleportation wards that will allow them to travel freely. Their isolation takes on a life of its own, manifesting as much in their relationships with each other as their situation in the world.

Falls quite squarely on Mediocre

I normally just give a book some stars and call it a day. This one, however, just seemed to make a long day of driving drag just a little bit more. It says something about a book when I needed to take a break from listening to muster enough stubbornness to finish it.
Relating to the MC gets harder by the chapter while the story seems to meander without any real direction for most of the book. What gets me the worst is the lack of any quantifiable progress in the relationships.
As for the narration. I like the tonal quality, but the inhalation every other word to maintain the unusual accent gets a bit jarring. It might not be so bad in smaller doses. I tend to marathon books while I drive

A few minor notes on the narration. Sentences get repeated a few times. A couple of words are mispronounced. All in all not to detrimental to Immersion.
I'll read it again in a year or two.

To much food.
Reviewed: 10-11-17
Way too much of this book was wasted on describing food. I enjoy the LitRPG genre quite a bit, but it seemed like I skipped an hours worthe of distracting food descriptions. Completely unnecessary to the story. That said, the rest of the story was engaging enough that I will still probably get the next iteration.
