Story
When Nancy Cooper moved from Canada to Cary, North Carolina, with her new husband Brad, their future was bright. Living in one of the most picturesque towns in the United States, the couple mingled with neighbors, attended parties, and raised two daughters. Then, on July 14, 2008, the façade came crashing down when Nancy's strangled body was found in a storm pond. Nancy's husband claimed that she had gone for a jog and never come back.

Way too long
Reviewed: 05-10-23
Unfortunately I did not read the reviews on this one before I bought it. It was way too long, and could have easily been reduced by 1/3, if not by half. I was not a fan of the narrator either…and that was even before she pronounced “appellate” as “apple-ate”. I was entirely done with her after that. I think I shut this book off at least 5 times because I was so stinking bored with it! I finally forced myself to finish it and thankfully, it’s done. Definitely will not be one I listen to more than once, and I won’t be picking up a paper copy of it either. So much filler.

Story
In the town of Ada, Oklahoma, Ron Williamson was going to be the next Mickey Mantle. But on his way to the Big Leagues, Ron stumbled, his dreams broken by drinking, drugs, and women. Then, on a winter night in 1982, not far from Ron’s home, a young cocktail waitress named Debra Sue Carter was savagely murdered. The investigation led nowhere. Until, on the flimsiest evidence, it led to Ron Williamson. The washed-up small-town hero was charged, tried, and sentenced to death - in a trial littered with lying witnesses and tainted evidence....

Excellent story, and great performance by the narrator. Books in this genre can sometimes be hard to follow when being read like this, but this one had me hooked the whole time. The story moved quickly and was very easy to listen to. Definitely recommend!

Cute, “fluffy” story
Reviewed: 11-10-21
This was a cute (if predictable) story. Definitely not full of edge-of-your-seat kind of moments, but I think it was better than a lot of reviewers here claim that it is. I loved the way Caroline and Alex met, and the sweet moments they had along the way. The characters could have been fleshed out a bit more, but it was still a nice story.
The narration was just okay. I found the parts where the male narrator imitated Caroline’s voice to be a bit irritating, but as the character of Alex, his voice was perfect.

Story
Alison Rosen, host of the immensely popular podcast Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend, is ready to conquer the world of books in this collection of hilarious and unpredictable columns. Alison wants to be living a fabulous life filled with myriad social engagements. She just also wants to not shower, put on a bra or leave the house. Plus, she dislikes dancing, the Fourth of July, and costume parties that involve skimpy attire. Basically, if it’s fun, count her out, which is too bad, since she so desperately wants you to think she’s fun.

Sorry, not a good performance
Reviewed: 08-23-21
I turned this off around chapter 8 and stopped listening. While the storyline was fine, I just did not enjoy the author’s performance at all. It didn’t seem like an Audible book, but rather like the author is just spouting off a bunch of stories at random. I also didn’t care for her updates as to what is going on in her life now versus what was happening at the time she wrote this novel. For what it’s worth, I think I’m going to buy a paper copy of the book and read it; I just can’t suffer through any more of the author’s narration.

Story
Number-one New York Times best-selling author Laurie Notaro isn't exactly a domestic goddess - unless that means she fully embraces her genetic hoarding predisposition, sneaks peeks at her husband's daily journal, or has made a list of the people she wants on her Apocalypse Survival team (her husband's not on it). Notaro chronicles her chronic misfortune in the domestic arts, including cooking, cleaning, and putting on Spanx while sweaty (which should technically qualify as an Olympic sport).

I very much enjoyed this book, and found the story to be humorous and witty; I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good laugh. However, the page after page of recipes being read was a bit much. I understand why the author included them in the actual book, but I would have been perfectly okay with them being skipped over by the person who did the audio rendition. I ended up fast forwarding through all of that portion.

Very nice, easy read (listen). If you’re a fan of Gilmore Girls, this is a must read! Lauren Graham IS Lorelai Gilmore, and her storytelling ability is just as great. Filled with family stories, anecdotes about acting and Hollywood life, plus personal journal entries from her time on the set of A Year in the Life, this book covers a lot of territory, but you end it feeling like you’ve just made a new friend. Lauren’s narration is on point, also.
