Brilliant writing, incredible story, award-winning narration and characters that jump off the page and grab you.
Why this hasn't been bid on for a movie already is beyond me! Thank you Don Wilson.

What the hell? This book ended abruptly without any finality! I kept waiting for the next chapter and realized the story was over! No explanation or completion of the plot. Just the words "the end"
Very disappointed and a waste of time. Must say the reader was very good and did all he could with what story he had to work with.

Story
Distinguished British man of letters J. R. Ackerley hardly thought himself a dog lover when, well into middle age, he came into possession of a German shepherd named Tulip. To his surprise, she turned out to be the love of his life, the “ideal friend” he had been seeking in vain for years. My Dog Tulip is a bittersweet retrospective account of their 16-year companionship, as well as a profound and subtle meditation on the strangeness that lies at the heart of all relationships.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
by being able to return it
What could J. R. Ackerley have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
not written it
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ralph Cosham?
no one could have helped this story
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment
Any additional comments?
Way too much detail about his dog's mating struggles and on and on about how he spent endless hours trying to get this dog in heat and hooked up with another male dog. Seriously, I really think the guy had some issues with the sex life of his dog and needed a life beyond this obsession with mating his female DOG! (He needs to get mated himself.)

Story
In a little dive in a small Israeli city, Dov Greenstein, a comedian a bit past his prime, is doing a night of stand-up. In the audience is a district court justice, Avishai Lazar, whom Dov knew as a boy, along with a few others who remember Dov as the awkward, scrawny kid who walked on his hands to confound the neighborhood bullies. Gradually, teetering between hilarity and hysteria, Dov's patter becomes a kind of memoir, taking us back into the terrors of his childhood.

What were they thinking?

Would you try another book from Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez and/or the narrators?
Maybe this is a better read than audio, but I could not finish it. So many characters, no definitive story line, just a bunch of screaming people.
Has Locke & Key turned you off from other books in this genre?
absolutely not...love Stephen King and the like.
How could the performance have been better?
select a better book/scrip!
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Locke & Key?
first page and on
Any additional comments?
having said all that, must admit I only gave it a hour or two, but was painful to listen to.
