An amazing book with great cliffhanger
Reviewed: 02-02-25
I've been listening to the series for quite some time and I like the story building. The idea of the main character growing into his power and overcoming the adversities while his friends and followers also grow. This current cliffhanger makes me want to read the next book as quickly as possible

Loving the pace of this book.

The ending to this story was not a cliffhanger, but it does get you very excited for the next books. There's a lot more story to tell and could easily be another half dozen more. Love the narrator and I hope the author continues with the final buildup of what the Fools Mark really is and how powerful he really can be now that we know he has more powers from the travel!

I still dislike the MC getting destroyed all the time. Being manipulated so thoroughly makes sense but this revelation should have been revealed within the 2nd book. Very slow burn on plot and even his love interest. If this was an anime then this 3 set books would be the early days 1st arc. We need the excitement of him coming into his own without constant manipulation! Must read all 3 books to come to any real beginning of satisfaction.

Its taking me 2 books to see how much I dislike the MC. The sister is a much better and dangerous character. This guy gets beeaten so often an$ barely recovers with real benefits. I want the story of a guy rising to greatness and this extremely slow burn is annoying. I need more excitement from a cultivation book.

Story
Victor can’t wait to get the hell out of high school, go to the local community college on a sports scholarship, and start his own life. But that’s all put on hold when he enters his abuela’s house and somehow ends up stepping into a world unlike anything he’s ever known, filled with fantastical meta-humans; walking, talking devils; and other creatures one usually needs some serious pharmaceuticals to see. Fanwath is no dream, though. In fact, it’s a nightmare.

I was hoping the pit fighting would be fleshed out and lead him down the path of a barbarian type fighter. Betrayal & further slavery like contracts turns into dungeon diving. Hope he gets more powerful quickly. Love OP type characters who learn what there true potential can be.

The MC female companion makes everything much harder!
Reviewed: 03-12-24
I don't know why the author continues to Nerf the MC abilities and increase difficulty of his mission. Every scene he has to devote time to protecting his unevolved girl is just plain stupid. When he's able to focus on his own, the story is excellent. Just magically make his girl as upgraded as Steve the MC and the story will stop dragging when Ingrid the girlfriend is around! Save this story!
