Story
Celie has grown up poor in rural Georgia, despised by the society around her and abused by her own family. She strives to protect her sister, Nettie, from a similar fate, and while Nettie escapes to a new life as a missionary in Africa, Celie is left behind without her best friend and confidante, married off to an older suitor, and sentenced to a life alone with a harsh and brutal husband. In an attempt to transcend a life that often seems too much to bear, Celie begins writing letters directly to God.

Story
“Can I kiss you?” It was two months before the world premiere of Juno, and Elliot Page was in his first ever queer bar. The hot summer air hung heavy around him as he looked at her. And then it happened. In front of everyone. A previously unfathomable experience. Here he was on the precipice of discovering himself as a queer person, as a trans person. Getting closer to his desires, his dreams, himself, without the repression he’d carried for so long. But for Elliot, two steps forward had always come with one step back.

I alwaysed wondered how all of this came about. Been a huge fan and when I didn't see anything about Page I missed him. But when he emerged into this beautiful handsome butterfly, I was beyond curious. Thank you for opening up and being vulnerable with all of us. Absolutely loved it, im happy to see him doing so well and feeling whole.

Story
When Claire, an overachieving psychologist with OCD tendencies, hires Lana, an impulsive, out-of-work actress for a fake relationship, she figures the worst she'll have to endure are the messes Lana leaves around. It's only for a few months anyway. And it's not as if she'll enjoy all those fake kisses and loving looks. Right?

Great book!!! but bad choice for narrator
Reviewed: 07-27-20
I read some reviews about it being read by a white man and I though "ah, it won't be too bad" well i was wrong. It was weird to hear a white dude trying to talk slang of that time. I loved the story and the accounts of Harriet Tubman but why have a white guy read it.
