Story
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

edge of the seat thriller

Oh my! What a thriller. I was confused and trying to figure things out and then WHOA! What a twist. Then twist. Then twist. #alicefeeney did a phenomenal job. What a great writer! I wouldn't mind seeing this adapted into a screenplay. I could not stop listening to this one (hooray for an audible credit). The narrators, #richardarmitage and #stephanieracine had me from the very beginning. (Americans do love accents, after all 🤷♀️) Here's to marriage...and not keeping secrets 🥂

Story
Dill has had to wrestle with vipers his whole life - at home, as the only son of a Pentecostal minister who urges him to handle poisonous rattlesnakes, and at school, where he faces down bullies who target him for his father’s extreme faith and very public fall from grace. He and his fellow outcast friends must try to make it through their senior year of high school without letting the small-town culture destroy their creative spirits and sense of self. Graduation will lead to new beginnings for Lydia, whose edgy fashion blog is her ticket out of their rural Tennessee town.

Great story that dives into high school, emotions, fears, loss, parents, friendships, and more. Zentner is a wonderful story writer who makes his audience believe him: believe he knows what he is talking about and that the words and feelings are true. We are not the whispers behind our backs. Those whispers do not define us.

Story
Lina Meisel, a retired librarian in Florida, is reading the newspaper one morning when she freezes. Her eyes lock on a photograph of a book she hasn’t seen in 65 years - a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article discusses the looting of libraries by the Nazis across Europe during World War II - an experience Lina remembers well - and the search to reunite people with the texts stolen from them so long ago. The book in the photograph is one of the most fascinating cases.

Romance vs Rescue
Reviewed: 08-06-22
A new glimpse into WW2; however, the romance and the young emotions determining decisions was a bit much. I expected the plot to surround the rescuing of children more than the focus being on the romance. simply personal choice though!
