About this listen

Rock Paper Scissors is the latest exciting domestic thriller from the queen of the killer twist, New York Times best-selling author Alice Feeney.

Think you know the person you married? Think again....

Things have been wrong with Mr. and Mrs. Wright for a long time. When Adam and Amelia win a weekend away to Scotland, it might be just what their marriage needs. Self-confessed workaholic and screenwriter Adam Wright has lived with face blindness his whole life. He can’t recognize friends or family, or even his own wife.

Every anniversary the couple exchanges traditional gifts - paper, cotton, pottery, tin - and each year Adam’s wife writes him a letter that she never lets him read. Until now. They both know this weekend will make or break their marriage, but they didn’t randomly win this trip. One of them is lying, and someone doesn’t want them to live happily ever after.

Ten years of marriage. Ten years of secrets. And an anniversary they will never forget.

What a nice surprise!

At first I thought, “oh darn, another one if those” where the author uses multiple narrators to tell the story snd multiple dates as transitions. That seems to be the cliche structure of so many books, particularly in the mystery/thriller genre. Despite that, snd my initial inclination to delete it from my library, I plugged along and was quickly converted to a fan of this book. Although I found some characters underdeveloped, the plot was tight and brave enough to have a twist at the end. It carried me along through multiple barn cleanings and one or two trips to town. I’d be very glad to try another book from this author.
The narrator was top notch, with subtle and convincing voice changes for each character ; that is a real talent.

Chilling and well-constructed

I can’t say enough about this novel. Three narrators who weave—and ultimately reveal—a story of marriage and murder. Superb observations of a marriage gone stale comprise the foundation of a solid mystery which has more twists and turns than a roller coaster. I was enthralled by the narrative, surprised by its ending, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre, as well as top-notch writing. Not to be missed!

Wow!

Did not see this one coming. Do yourselves a favor: don’t try to figure anything out . . . just listen, really listen. Be enthralled, be enticed, be . . . afraid. Yes. Afraid.

It’s a dang good book.

Good job, Ms Feeney. I’m recommending this one for my book club.

Great story & fantastic narration! Didn't even realize I was in the dark until the characters turned on more and more lights. Whew! Wild ride.

Holds Interest!

I think some of the previous critics were a bit too harsh. Yes, there were times the story dragged on; however, I thought the story depicted the rollercoaster marriage can be. The plot twist was good, but the ending fell flat. Overall, worth listening to!
