After 30 years, Collins is ready to be done with small-town animal control. His replacement, Blair, is a Gen Z vet student who hates mansplaining; they don’t get along. Pushing the woke narrative.
Old white dudes are bad. I couldn’t finish it. I guess I’m just old fashioned.

Story
Everything Elka knows of the world she learned from the man she calls Father, the solitary hunter who took her under his wing when she was just seven years old. He has taught her how to shoot, track, set snares, and start fires - all the skills she needs to survive in a frozen, lawless land where civilization has been destroyed and men are at the mercy of the elements and each other. But the man Elka thought she knew so well is harboring a terrible secret. He's a killer. A monster.

Great!
Reviewed: 11-18-22
One of the best audible books I’ve listened to in quite a while. Very good, but story is a little depressing. Others who mention the murder of children, the author does not describe the actual murder, every time it’s an after the fact scene, bloody knife or scalp. There no description of the actual killings.

Story
Joe Pickett's in his last week as the temporary game warden in the town of Baggs, Wyoming, but there have been strange things going on in the mountains, and his conscience won't let him leave without checking them out: reports of camps looted, tents slashed, elk butchered. And then there's the runner who simply vanished one day. Joe doesn't mind admitting that the farther he rides, the more he wishes he could just turn around and go home.
