Disappointing and Unengaging: A Letdown in Spider Vol. 12
Reviewed: 03-12-25
I was quite disappointed with Spider Vol. 12. The story felt lacking, as it primarily focused on side characters rather than advancing the main plot. These side stories were not particularly engaging, making the overall experience feel like a waste of time. While the performance was decent, it wasn’t enough to salvage the experience for me. Overall, I can’t recommend this book.

Story
Everly Skolder, the self-proclaimed Empress of the world, has fully embraced her inner darkness. With sheer magical might and the assistance of her devoted followers, her influence has reached a global peak. Alongside new additions to her gang—er—inner court, like her pet rat, Matty, and the mysterious Dullahan, Everly's helping the reluctant citizens of Winstead to embrace her vision of the future . . . whether they like it or not. She's charismatic, powerful, and dangerously unstable. In short, she's the perfect villainess.

Disappointing and Unnecessary Additions
Reviewed: 02-16-25
I had high hopes for Empress, but unfortunately, my experience with this book was disappointing. The excessive use of foul language was off-putting, and the frequent, explicit discussions of sexual content felt unnecessary and added no real value to the story. From my perspective, these elements detracted rather than enhanced the narrative.
While the plot does lead somewhere, much of the book feels padded with unnecessary sections that seem to exist only to increase the word count. This made the overall reading experience frustrating and unfulfilling. Given this, I do not see myself continuing with this series in the future.
Overall, Empress did not meet my expectations, and I cannot recommend it. My rating reflects my dissatisfaction with the storytelling and content choices.

Great Story, But Performance Needs Improvement
Reviewed: 12-28-24
Great story, really enjoying The Shield Hero. However, the performance could be improved—there’s only one male narrator doing all the voices, including female characters. Adding a female narrator for female roles would enhance the experience.

Story
The year 12,090 AD. It is a dark time for the world. Humanity is just crawling out from under 300 years of domination by the race of vampires known as the Nobility. The war against the vampires has taken its toll; cities lie in ruin, the countryside is fragmented into small villages and fiefdoms that still struggle against nightly raids by the fallen vampires - and the remnants of their genetically manufactured demons and werewolves.

Story
“IT’S SHOWTIME.” The news has made headlines-"Korea and Japan join hands to exterminate the terrifying magic beasts on Jeju Island once and for all!” It’s a monumental moment for the people of the country…and it has absolutely nothing to do with Jinwoo. Instead, the newest S-rank hunter’s number one priority is bringing his recently recovered mother back home where she belongs at last. When the situation on Jeju Island takes a devastating turn for the worse, though, will the country's top hunters be strong enough to save the day without him?

Storyteller sound effects issues.
Reviewed: 12-15-22
The sound effects for the storyteller is really annoying. When opening a door, or when battling monsters. The story can be told without the need of the sound effects, actually it will encourage more people to listen to the story itself.
I have one of my friends REFUSED to listen to the story due to these sound effects.
I hope it will be fixed for the upcoming volumes.
