I loved the story! And the male narrator did a great job the female narrator wasn’t the best. When she did male voices it was very disconcerting and just not good.

This book captures the real spirit of Appalachia. Growing up and still living in rural KY this book reminds me so much of my grandmother. The strength and indomitable spirit of Appalachian people along with their speech and the love they shared are all captured within this story. I love Silas House but this one in my favorite!

Story
Five days ago a rash of bizarre murders swept the country. Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected. A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state. Four Days Ago the murders increased ten-fold. Three days ago the President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace. Two days ago the killers began to mobilize. Yesterday all the power went out. Tonight....

Story
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

I first read this book many years ago and as I am a ky girl myself it really resonated with me. I love this book and the way it’s read a loud here on audible. The people in the story could be people I know or am related to and they way the narrator speaks brought me back to my grandmothers kitchen when I was a child. Thank you Silas house for capturing the very essence of what it means to be mountain people!

I would highly recommend this story to others it is easy to follow full of excitement and a great love story ( a tab bit sappy at times but definitely stomachable)! The performance was mediocre and took me out of the story in the beginning but after a few chapters I got past it. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I loved the story have read extensively about Eleanor of Aquitaine in the past and this was an epic tale of the first chapter of her life. Loved it! However the narrator was a bit lackluster for the scale of this novel in my opinion.
