Spectacular

Truly captures the spirit of eastern Kentucky. I feel as though I already knew everyone in this book the moment they were so beautifully introduced and stitched together like a quilt.

It was like reading my own story.

Incredibly accurate depiction of Appalachian life and holler life. I thought we were the only ones who made Peanut Butter Candy when it snowed. Love. Love. Love.

Love this book

I first read this book many years ago and as I am a ky girl myself it really resonated with me. I love this book and the way it’s read a loud here on audible. The people in the story could be people I know or am related to and they way the narrator speaks brought me back to my grandmothers kitchen when I was a child. Thank you Silas house for capturing the very essence of what it means to be mountain people!

A great trip to the mountains.

Such a good story. I'm a West Virginia girl, but this still felt like home.

A joy to listen to

Everything about this book and listening experience is wonderful. I’ve just discovered Silas House and the audible versions are exceptional. The narrator has just the right Kentucky tone. The story is beautiful and the characters are well developed. I’d recommend reading Parchment of Leaves first, then Coal Tatoo and then Clay’s Quilt.

The very essence of the mountains

As an EKY native this literary treasure speaks to my Appalachian heart. These characters are written so realistically their equals could be found on any front porch in any holler in these parts!

Beautiful

Just a perfect book about a sometimes misrepresented Appalachia. The way he describes that are is so honest and lovely.
