Story
In retreat from a devastating loss and crushing injustice, Katie lives alone in a fortresslike stone house on Jacob’s Ladder island. Once a rising star in the art world, she finds refuge in her painting. The neighboring island of Ringrock houses a secret: a government research facility. And now two agents have arrived on Jacob’s Ladder in search of someone—or something—they refuse to identify. Although an air of menace hangs over these men, an infinitely greater threat has arrived, one so strange even the island animals are in a state of high alarm.

Story
One year ago, Isabelle Drake's life changed forever: her toddler son, Mason, was taken out of his crib in the middle of the night while she and her husband were asleep in the next room. With little evidence and few leads for the police to chase, the case quickly went cold. However, Isabelle cannot rest until Mason is returned to her—literally. Except for the occasional catnap or small blackout where she loses track of time, she hasn’t slept in a year. Isabelle's entire existence now revolves around finding him, but she knows she can’t go on this way forever.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

This is such a BRILLIANT BOOK. Bravo Andy Weir. What depth of creativity this author possesses. I was absolutely caught up from the very beginning and the book did not disappoint. Even if you are not a fan of science, space flight or astronomy, you will still love this book and find it absolutely mesmerizing. Andy’s plot explodes with sensationalism that is absolutely realistic, fascinating and powerfully emotionally. Ray Porter is one of my favorite narrators of all time. This book is powerfully human and powerfully galactic. Do not miss the opportunity to listen to this book!

This was an unexpected GEM of a book!

This was an unexpected GEM of a book! Such a powerful story that, while historically not modern and encompasses magic, still resonates powerfully and profoundly with modern day issues such as self-realization, gender identity, constraints of religious groups, sibling rivalry, loyalty, love and family obligations. The characters are simply unforgettable. The narrator is excellent.

READ THIS BOOK! I cannot even do this book justice by writing a review in words because my words will fall short trying to convey mastery of this book. History, code breaking, unforgettable characters, friendship, love, betrayal and a royal wedding. The author’s ability to write is phenomenal and I hung on every magically woven sentence.
