I did not like the way this was narrated on audible. Both the female and male narrator had horrible voices for the opposite sex. And it took me out of the story very easily.
The book itself was good. I wasn’t super into it for the majority of the book. The granddaughter of a writer who is an artist , who then falls for a writer. All very cliche. The plot itself just didn’t feel like it had much depth. Boy meets girl, girl doesn’t like boy. Girl really meets boy and falls head over heels. But has past trauma. Boy just happens to already be in love with girl.
The big plot twist was a great surprise though. I did not see it coming, but once it did I knew, I saw it had been so obvious.

Story
Through the years, I lived more as an enigma than a man. For so long, I denied I had a beating heart of my own. Until her. Until she unearthed the starving vessel inside, forced me to acknowledge it, forced me to understand that I’m capable of bleeding the same as any other. For that, we paid. We're still paying. Yet she demands it still; the useless heart of the ruthless thief and shameless villain she fell for. My fear is that I’m no longer that man.

Story
It’s a ghost town, this place that haunts me, the one that made me. It’s clear to me that I’ll never outgrow Triple Falls or outlive the time I spent here. I can still feel them all, my boys of summer. Even when I'd sensed the danger, I gave in. I didn’t heed a single warning. I let my sickness and my love both rule and ruin me. I played my part, eyes wide open, tempting fate until it delivered. There was never going to be an escape. All of us are to blame for what happened. All of us are serving our own sentences.

Felt like two books in one.
Reviewed: 05-30-25
The first book was good and I didn’t know how it would get better. The mmcs had “left” the narrative and I didn’t really know where the plot line was going next. But it was so good. More twisted spicy bits. More details to the Ravinhood and their background. A new equally devastating mmc.
I feel like I have read two books in this one. Soooo much has happened. I am devastated and reeled in. I feel so much for Cecilia and her story.
Everything is wrong. Just over 10 chapters left and I’m so much more devastated. This is not okay, everything is wrong.
Really Bradford pear trees… really? 😑
Honestly really liked this book too. I hope the final one doesn’t disappoint. I again am not sure where the next one will go since we kind of had a nice little wrap up, but I am eager to find out.
Again the audio book narrators did a fantastic job. I love the tandem reading and the narrators themselves.

Triple Falls wasn’t at all what it seemed, nor were the men that swept me under their wing. But in order to keep them, I had to be in on their secrets. Secrets that cost us everything to keep. That’s the novelty of fiction versus reality. You can’t re-live your own love story, because by the time you’ve realized you’re living it, it’s over. At least that was the case for me and the men I trusted my foolish heart to. Looking back, I’m convinced I willed my story into existence, due to my illness, and all were punished.

Spicy and sweet 🌶️🍫
Reviewed: 05-24-25
I am somewhat surprised by how much I liked this one. It’s a good amount of spicy 🌶️. I would say enough to keep you satisfied but not too much that it starts to have no plot. Between Sean and Dominic you get golden retriever and German shepherd mmc energy all at once, and it really is just the best of both worlds.
There were times where Cecilia’s inner monologue can be a bit droning, especially in the opening chapter.
The plot itself was good, I really enjoyed the story behind the smut and I feel like it could stand on its own even without the smut.
I really liked the male/female tandem read in the audio book. Joe Arden was great as the male narrator.

Hit me. Kick me. Hurt me. Hate me. There’s nothing that the students of Raleigh High can do to Silver Parisi anymore. Over the past year, she’s had to endure more pain and suffering than most people are asked to bear in their lifetimes. She’s a pariah, an outcast, a ghost. She’s also never been one to take shit lying down, though...despite what half the football team might say. With only 168 days left of the school year, it won’t be long until graduation, and Silver’s planning on skipping town and leaving Raleigh firmly in her rearview mirror. Until he comes along....

Some very heavy topics but good plot and spice.
Reviewed: 05-20-25
I was definitely not prepared for the very heavy topics present in this book. (I am more of a trust the ratings and dive right in reader, not a read the summary kind of reader) I thought it was just going to be a cute spicy, bad boy, good girl type romance. There are some heavy topics at play. That being said, it was pretty good. Not the best but not the worst. There were satisfyingly predictable parts and some very unexpected parts. The romance was good and the MMC speaking Italian didn’t hurt. I don’t tend to like the idea of high school romances, being an almost 30 year old, they feel a little gross. But it was rated highly and Teddy Hamilton was one of the audio book narrators so… I gave it a go. The narrators were great, of course Teddy Hamilton is always phenomenal! The MFC’s narrator, Charlotte North’s voice did give a little bit of Christy Plunkett vibes at time though, not a bad thing, just an observation.

Pain is an abyss. How naive of me to think I’d already reached the very depths of it when fate shook my world with a crushing blow. It turns out there are fathomless levels of pain, like a winding labyrinth of doors leading to shadowy figures and long-forgotten secrets. The kind of inescapable descent into madness that twists nightmares into reality. What lies at the end of this obscure path I have yet to discover. But where it begins is a place called Infernium: an asylum feared by those in Nightshade and untrodden by the angels who’ve forsaken its many lost souls.

Idk the first one was good but I just am not feeling this one. I made it to chapter 30 but have no willingness to want to finish it. I even took a break for a couple weeks and read something else but I just can’t get back into it. Some of the extra demon sexual parts that just do not do it for me, and actually really turn me off. (The swelling of Jericho’s head.) I’m also not really into the baby part, which has been the entire plot of this second book so far.
The audio book narrators are great though.

My father called them messengers. He once told me they walked among us and that somewhere in this dark and godless city, there shined a faint sliver of hope. I had only to look for the signs. Well, I’ve spent my whole life investigating the inexplicable and all I've found are the unsettling vestiges of iniquity—the evidence of another world shrouded by the obscure. Purgatory to some, where depravity hides in shadows, and girls like me are little more than delicious bites of temptation. Others call it Nightshade.

Good Dark Romance.
Reviewed: 04-29-25
This was a good smutty romance. It checked all the right boxes that make a book enjoyable. It had a good mix of plot and smut, with some darker play. Very enjoyable if this is something you’re into. You get multiple main character perspectives. The ending did feel a bit rushed but I know there’s a sequel/second half.
The audio book narrators were great. I always like when they split the male and female characters respectively.

This is by far my favorite book of the series. It is so good. However, it has left me completely broken and devastated. It is the saddest book of the series and idk if I have cried more while reading a book. But it was sooo good! You get to reconnect with some of the best characters in the series and discover ew stories and side to them. You see the epic scope of the main plot of the original trilogy. This is for sure one of my top 5 favorite books. Suzanne Collins feels there did beautifully with this message, this story and the series as a whole.
I really enjoyed this narrator and it meant so much that there was a melody/rhythm to the songs and poems in this book, as there wasn’t in the last book. (Although maybe that was a statement to the specific characters)

The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

A good addition to the series
Reviewed: 04-17-25
Again, I did not read this before seeing the movies. The movie was a great addition to what has been a longstanding favorite series of mine. The book was just as good if not better. You got just a bit more from this book than the movie. It’s interesting because in the movie you don’t get quite as much of Snow’s internal feelings and thoughts about his choices in the movie like we do in the book and I remember watching the movie and feeling empathy towards Snow but getting to hear his thoughts from the book, idk if I would have felt that same empathy had I read the book first. I do feel that the second half of the book dragged a bit but this could have been just because I did know the plot line. Regardless, these stories are so powerful and the messages that Suzanne Collins is trying to get across are especially important in today’s political climate. I am very excited to read the next one.
On the note of the narrator, I do think the fact that there are so many songs in this book, the fact that the narrator just spoke the lyrics really took away from the impact of those songs. This was my least favorite narrator of the books in this series.
