Story
Featuring original music by Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon! It's 2003 and Romy Hall is at the start of two consecutive life sentences at Stanville Women's Correctional Facility, deep in California's Central Valley. Outside is the world from which she has been severed: the San Francisco of her youth and her young son, Jackson. Inside is a new reality: thousands of women hustling for the essentials needed to survive; the bluffing and pageantry and acts of violence by guards and prisoners alike; and the absurdities of institutional living, which Kushner evokes with great humor and precision.

I enjoyed this deeply engaging work with its rich characters and multiple viewpoints. It’s my first encounter with this author. I will be reading her other novels. Thank you Ms. Kushner for a beautiful book.

Story
Beginning in the Garden of Eden and soaring through to the present, A Time for Everything reimagines pivotal encounters between humans and angels: the glow of the cherubim watching over Eden; the profound love between Cain and Abel despite their differences; Lot's shame in Sodom; Noah's isolation before the flood; Ezekiel tied to his bed, prophesying ferociously; the death of Christ; and the emergence of sensual, mischievous cherubs in the 17th century.

Like a revelation

This book may not be “for everyone” but for me it was a profound work which layered Biblical literature with fantasy, temporal dislocation, a medieval “what if” and a confessional flourish at the end. It can be slow in parts but for me the language was worth savoring.

Throughout the 10 years experience in coaching and employment counseling, I noticed that introverts feel more challenged when it comes to job hunting. Being an introvert myself, I want to help them become more successful in a professional world that seems more impressed with the extroverted behavior.

The author leaves no stone unturned

"Introverts: Leverage Your Strengths For An Effective Job Search" is the comprehensive guide to the entire process of searching for a job, directed specifically toward introverts. The author leaves no stone unturned as she explores the specifics of the introvert psychology, invites the reader to a new depth of self-knowledge, and lays the foundation for the job search project from the mindset to the mundane (but extremely important). As an introvert listener of this excellent volume, I felt my confidence growing with each page as I better understood my strengths, and how to manage my limitations. The excellent recording quality and presentation make Gabriela Casineau's masterwork or a book shine in this audio version.
