One in particular, Dylan, a laid-back lothario, soon captures her attention. But just as Millie is beginning to settle in, an unexpected visitor from her past suddenly turns up determined to ruin everything for her.

Upsetting

The way that suicide is discussed, not to mention the possibility of a man being drugged and raped, is just appalling

Story
Finlay Donovan and her nanny/partner-in-crime Vero are in sore need of a girls’ weekend away. They plan a trip to Atlantic City, but odds are—seeing as it’s actually a cover story to negotiate a deal with a dangerous loan shark, save Vero’s childhood crush Javi, and hunt down a stolen car—it won’t be all fun and games. When Finlay’s ex-husband Steven and her mother insist on tagging along too, Finlay and Vero suddenly have a few too many meddlesome passengers along for the ride.

Love the Finlay Donovan books! This was a great ending (?) to the story. Or at least to one story of hopefully many

Story
New Yorkers Paul and Darren have planned a winter holiday in Venice. But when their five-year marriage suddenly unravels, Paul endeavors to make the trip alone, despite his heartbreak and anxiety. Far outside his comfort zone, Paul has a mission: to see if he can be adventurous, fearless, free. In short, to become someone new. Soon after arriving in Italy, he notices a small, scruffy, self-assured dog trotting alongside a canal with the confidence he so desperately wants for himself. This street dog and his instincts for survival lend Paul’s trip a singular purpose.

Bawling my eyes out

** spoiler alert ** Don't mind me, I'm just over here BAWLING my eyes out! He tells you in the very first chapter what's going to happen. He keeps warning you the whole way through the book. So much so, that I thought maybe it was just a trick and he'd worded it in such a way that it could somehow not be true. But it's true. And it's gut-wrenching.
