Story
Its cool gulf breezes lured him from a life of danger. Its dark undercurrents threatened to destroy him. After 10 years of living life on the edge, it was hard for Doc Ford to get that addiction to danger out of his system. But spending each day watching the sun melt into Dinkins Bay and the moon rise over the mangrove trees, cooking dinner for his beautiful neighbor, and dispensing advice to the locals over a cold beer lulled him into letting his guard down.

Doc Ford the "secret agent action man,,,"
Reviewed: 12-21-24
Miss the old Doc. This "action" story is very dark with unnecesary brutallity and macabre scenes, narration is unusually poor by such an old and exprienced narrator. Dissapointing.

Jack Reacher was alone, the way he liked it, soaking up the hot, electric New York City night, watching a man cross the street to a parked Mercedes and drive it away. The car contained one million dollars in ransom money because Edward Lane, the man who paid it, would do anything to get his family back.

Story
As a police launch speeds across Miami's Biscayne Bay - with officer Nestor Camacho on board - Tom Wolfe is off and running. Here is a big, panoramic story of the new America, as told by our master chronicler of the way we live now. Based on the same sort of detailed, on-scene, high-energy reporting that powered Tom Wolfe's previous best-selling novels, Back to Blood is another brilliant, spot-on, scrupulous, and often hilarious reckoning with our times.

Lou Diamond Phillips is the best narrator I’ve had ever heard on any audiobook ever !
The rest is a typical Wolf salad of characters and disjointed events keeping you hoping for something to happen but little does and eventually the book mercifully comes to a whimpering end.

Gripping fiction woven around factual history. My only displeasure is with the comical pronunciations of Hebrew words and names...: similar to French, the emphasis of most Hebrew words and names is at the beginning, not the ending of the word.... but we can’t ask for it all to be perfect.
