Story
Grady Adams lives a simple, solitary life deep in the Colorado mountains. Here the 35-year-old carpenter works out of a converted barn, crafting exquisite one-of-a-kind furniture. There's little about this strong yet gentle man to suggest the experiences that have alienated him from the contemporary world. But that is about to change.

Narration really good, other than butchering pronounciation of some words. (Facsimile was the worst.)
Reviewed: 02-06-24
Repeating 'how long it had been. . ' again and again to set the timeline of past events grew tiresome and annoying. I think labeling the chapter head with the current timeline helped. I did like the story. I am guessing the author was pushed to finish too quickly and if given more time, would have produced a better version.

He should have left her and never looked back… That's not how things played out for Caine, a nearly one thousand year old Pyte, who should have known better. Instead of walking away years ago, he has been watching over the only human who has touched his heart. He stays to protect her, at least that is what he tells himself. When trouble finds her, he knows that he should just cut his losses and walk away, but there is no fighting the hold the child, who has become a woman, has on him.

Main character is dumb as a rock. The dialogue is disjointed and unrealistic. The story line has promise, I just kept hoping it would get better. It doesn't. It gets worse.

Story
I rejected my fated mate, and didn’t regret it for a second. Until now. Shipped off to Ravenscroft University, a graduate school for the supernatural elite, I have a lot to live up to. As heir to America’s most powerful pack, I was locked away. Not to be protected, but because I was born broken. A disappointment. A wolf who couldn’t shift. This is supposed to be my fresh start, but my past won’t leave me alone. Not when he’s here.

There's no depth to the characters or the story line. Sounded like the narrator doing the female voices was bored to death with this book. I don't blame her. Male narration: Cringe worthy dialogue, dumb as a rock characters. It is not the narrators fault.

Book description includes the whole story, the whole book. Which it should if you were selling a book. Which would be really nice. I've read most of your books and you are a favorite. My point is that I would rather see you charge more per book than break up great books and sell them separately. Breaking them up seems almost condescending to the buyer. I'm just . . . disenchanted
