About this listen

He should have left her and never looked back… That's not how things played out for Caine, a nearly one thousand year old Pyte, who should have known better. Instead of walking away years ago, he has been watching over the only human who has touched his heart. He stays to protect her, at least that is what he tells himself. When trouble finds her, he knows that he should just cut his losses and walk away, but there is no fighting the hold the child, who has become a woman, has on him. Now they are both paying the price.

Danni knows that she isn’t technically a Sentinel and is putting her life in danger every time she goes out on patrol. She isn't worried, she has a job to do. It is the only thing that matters to her anymore and she isn’t going to let it go without a fight. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t foresee her ex-boyfriend selling her out to a Master, being captured, getting locked up and stuck in a room with the cranky Pyte. The same Pyte that broke her heart years ago and won't stop glaring at her - as if their little predicament is all her fault.

Editorial reviews

Imagine being captured and imprisoned by the one man who ever broke your heart! That's what happens in Tall, Dark, & Heartless, an innovative novel that blends fantasy and romance. Stella Bloom performs the novel with her characteristically sexy flourish. Bloom is particularly well suited to portraying the psyche of the heroine, Danni, who must now face down the Pyte who brought her into the world of Sentinels. Steamy and suspenseful, Tall, Dark, & Heartless is a must for anyone looking for a great pause-resisting listen!

Storyline of Danni & Kane best so far in series

I liked this book (#3) best of all so far. Possibly because it furthers the stories from 1 & 2.

What I liked best... monster with a golden heart for a tiny tot. 💛
I guess the backstory of Kane and Danni is a syfy twist on My Fair Lady, Sabrina and Gigi all rolled into one. <swoon>

also loved the multiple stories going on with Ephraim and Madisons family (so many moving parts, Josh, Jill, Chris and Izzy, even Mark). Continuation of corresponding characters from Book 2 (Kale & Landon). Introduction of new colorful characters (Master vamp & Alpha shifter) really painted an exciting fuller picture of what this alternate paranormal lifestyle is like. 👍

There are a few draw backs, the biggest one for me is having the MC and important supporting character named Kane and Kale... really? Then sometimes they sound the same, i.e., Kale speaks without his accent so darn confusing!!

Other drawbacks are the inconsistencies... this was true in book 2 as well. That's just frustrating, I really wish she'd hire a better editor to catch these mistakes 😒.

Finally, my biggest pet peeve is the female characters all seem to end up with the same personalities. They start out being described as smart, independent, bad ass women but when they mate up they become stereotypes of whiney, clingy, mindless drones. Are they stepford wives? because it seems that after having your first mind blowing orgasm in this world removes the female backbone and freewill. Seriously, I would NEVER want to be friends with the Izzy, Madison or Danni depicted at the end of each book. Please give them back their modern female power not the giggly girls of 1950.

These books never keep up with all pf the....

These books never keep you updated on all of the different stories and character's. I keep getting the next book in the series expecting the story to start off where it left off and then without fail a new couples story starts up and we are left hanging badly when it comes to allot of the other cphples/character 's and so I'm like WTF!?!?!? what happened to the rest of their stories!?! There is so much more that should be added to the other character's stories.
It's extremely annoying and frustrating and really just pisses me off.
It makes me wonder if this writer has A.D.D like me but shit I would stop.adding all the fillers of sex scenes and make it filled with allpt more action and adventure. A few sex scenes are fine even great if done rite but in this series there is just way much of that BS and all the added uninteresting crap that is just not needed.
I do like series but the bad outweighs the good in so many ways.
So disappointing.
With that said the writer is really good about making you like and care about them.
I really hope This writer gets better with keeping the stories in'line with the character's and stop rushing through this story with sex and other fillers.

love

I take it back about my review for Chris and his pinheaded ways! This one- this one takes the cake of making a reader want to reach in and throttle a man 🤣 jerk!!!!

I enjoy this series- even with the pigheaded men- and love that the previous characters play roles in them so that readers can keep in contact.

plenty of action, laughs, and steamy scenes

Tall, Dark & Heartless was Great!

I liked this story and the narrator did a great job. I didnt realize when I started this audiobook that it was part of a series. Due to starting in the middle, I missed the back story for several characters. My suggestion would be to start with book 1, which is probably what I'm going to do.

Good but not great

This book was good, but I probably would have returned it if I had to use a credit for it. The first two books were better.

Cant wait for more books in this series

Would you consider the audio edition of Tall, Dark & Heartless to be better than the print version?

The narrator is the reason that I have purchased every audio book in this series. The story is good but the narrator Stella Bloom makes this book a thousand times better!!! A narrator can totally kill a book and this is an example where the narrator just makes this book AMAZING!!! Great Job

Any additional comments?

I love this series and cant wait for more books to come out! Hurry Please!
