Story
Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic science-fiction series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck and her dad's old costume, Elle's determined to win - unless her stepsisters get there first.

very cute story

I love the story and the premise. nice that the author acknowledges the young age of the characters in the plot and works around the fact.
the audio book could use some better editing. there were about 5 instances of a line repeated, which was annoying because it shook me out of the moment.

great story, happy ending

the only critique of the narrator is that she doesn't pause between points of view when the story shifts, so it's a bit jarring to have such a quick perspective change.
but the story is heartwarming and has a good ending.

book content warning: abuse, suicidal thoughts, violence.
However, there is no sexual violence, only consent. Also, I love this book despite the rough and uncomfortable moments because in the end, there is redemption, revenge, and forgiveness.
The bad guys get what they deserve, as do the good guys, honestly. Give it a chance. You'll be cheering in the end!

dark twists and turns, well narrated
Reviewed: 01-03-21
It is interesting to have a story about the lower classes of folks in early industrial England, and the alternate lifestyle that is almost gentile, but perverse. There are many twists and turns to the plot.
The narrator was fantastic with really well done accents and a good distinction between the points of view.

another lovely happy ending story by Jae about characters from Backward to Oregon. The narrator is the same. I was a hit annoyed by the narration in the first one, but it was smoother for this book although her pronunciation of a few words here and there was jarring (taffeta, cravat?l anyways, I still recommend it for a heartwarming read.

excellent story, rocky narration

The narration is casual, not highly polished. That doesn't distract from the story, though. The story is excellent and has the happy ending I was hoping for. Hang in there through the tense moments when you think things will go wrong! It's really very rewarding in the end.

From the comedic mind of New York Times best-seller Gail Carriger comes the much requested prequel short story to Soulless. Alexia Tarabotti attends what appears to be a very dull London party, until the new werewolf Alpha turns up, is unconscionably rude to her, and sits on a hedgehog. Don't miss this charming novelette featuring the first encounter between the Parasolverse's most popular power couple, preternatural Alexia and supernatural Lord Conall Maccon.
